Default Closing the Group Buy today

We're all set to move forward, and will place the order for mfg. today.

If you want to place an order, this is your last chance for this group buy.

Thanks everyone involved for your patience and support!

Default PB2 vs. PC2?

So I am also in on this group buy too. FEs are really indispensable, even though I changed my fuel lines...

Now, the piece of information missing in this thread boils down to the questions: Why should I go with PB2 vs. PC2 or vice versa? Since I suppose I am not the only person planning to call Steve and ask this question, maybe I will ask here so that other people can see the answer. If no answer, I will call and post the answer myself.

A commentary: above all I think it is best to go with a standard size. This would be the most future proof investment methinks.

Cheers, John

So, I tried to contact Steve today, but no luck.

This is what I want to know:
Are there any differences in the chemicals used? The PB2 is Halon, what is the PC2? What is more effective and what is the charge weight difference? Can either be recharged? Who can do the recharging?

My further thinking, just looking at the pics is:
The PC2 looks like a standards size. This is better. But, the PB2 has a much nicer nozzle and handle with fewer sharp edges that could be a real pain.

I will post answers to the above questions when I get them.

Cheers,

John

John, I will do my best here...

PB2 and PC are both Halon, and both the same charge weight and performance.
The difference btw the two is only that the PB has cool machined aluminum bits, making it look very super cool custom. It's Safecraft's best seller, and is price accordingly higher.
I'm not sure where else you can get them refilled, but I do know Safecraft can refill them.

Just received the seat bracket back from my supplier. Very pleased!
Sending out to be test fitted tomorrow. Thanks Otto!

I would do the testing myself but appear to be lacking mid-year or later 928's ATM. I guess I have a case of the OB bug!

I've just spoken to Steve Baker at Safecraft and he's suggested an alternative for me, as Halon has been banned here in Australia since 1996, and I can't use a standard PB2. I can still go with your seat bracket Jim, and Steve can send an empty PB2 to his Australian agent, to be filled with a legal halon alternative (FE36). I'm going with a black wrinkle finish, as he tell me it's popular as it looks classy and doesn't show marks. He suggested that the quick release could come with the empty extinguisher (or I could get it from you with the seat bracket .. whatever is most efficient).

If anyone in Australia wants to go the same way, I'd be happy to organise the Oz end with Safecraft here, and Steve could send however many empty PB2's as are required to be filled with FE36 over here.

I'll be getting the cost from Safecraft here for the PB2 filled with FE36, and will post here once I find out. It will be more costly than a standard PB2.

Here's a link to DuPont FE36 information and properties ... http://www2.dupont.com/FE/en_US/prod...l#.UgUADW3LKDc

Edit: Additional info for Australian Rennlisters .. The extinguishers that are common here are 80mm diameter and the Safecraft quick release fittings aren't available in that size.

Matt and Dave,
Thanks for your interest! Following the success of this group buy, I plan to stock the seat bracket, and will sell it and the Safecraft mount thru my website.

Default GB update - QR mounts

I will be ordering QR mounts from Safecraft tomorrow.

If you haven't yet decided what FE you plan to use, now's the time to make a decision (only critical if you want the Safecraft PB).
I'd sent an email on this last week explaining details.

The default will be what I call a standard 3" ring.

Thanks!

I held off on the bracket because it looks like it won't work on an OB. What option is there for the early cars?

If anybody missed out on this deal and would like a bracket, I have one. It does not fit my 86.5. PM me if interested.
