Default Maintenance Book Times

I would like to know if there is a book or list of approved times for standard maintenance items. I'm sure it's called something different, but the idea is know the allotted book time for, say, changing a timing belt on an 89 S4.

I would also like to know if there is a list of these approved times for multiple maintenance items - such as changing the water pump while also changing the timing belt. I would think the combined time would be less than the two individual times since many of the common parts have already been disassembled.

Although this may be a little harder, I would also like to know what parts may need to be replaced when doing a specific piece of standard maintenance. As an example, if I'm having the timing belt changed I would not expect to see a charge for the head gasket. It seems when changing the timing belt there are only a specific number of parts that may be replaced (rollers, etc.)

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Some shops use Mitchel or something like that on demand, various brands of same for normal cars at least.

928 service is all about "WYAIT" while your already in there, fixing many things in the same area at the same time.

There are so many possible combinations of work you could do on a 928, that any list will tend to be very generic (like dealer times), tend to be padded for worst case scenario; and a more extensive repair often will be the sum of lots of smaller repair times, and not reflect the efficiency of doing multiple things together.

If you need to get work done on your car by a shop, you'd be better posting here what you intend to get done and get the advice of those who've done it, the list of items and WYAIT items, and the time they expect a good shop should be able to do it in.

Thanks to both of you for the advise. I had no idea about Mitchel's.
