Road Trip & minor issues
Hi gang,
I took the 87S4 to Washington, DC from Memphis. Car ran great. The only problem was with the air conditioner. Twice when I fueled, the air blew warm. I turned it off for about 30 minutes and turned it back on and it began to blow cold again. I also noticed that the front air blows colder when I turn on the rear air and I don't see water dripping from underneath like other cars.
Could the compressor get hot and cut off? Is it the compressor that sweats? What do you think my strategy 59 attack this problem should be?

replace the freeze switch and add some freon

I think before you toss money at it you might want to diagnose the problem. This is how we end up with parts on the shelf.

Just a swag...but likely the front evaporator is freezing up...essentially blocking air flow. When you sit, the "freeze" will thaw and then it blows colder..for a while anyway.
I would also guess that turning on the rear A/C takes freon away from the front..thus allowing it to "thaw" and work like it should...
I've got to adjust my freeze switch (Jim Corenman posted somewhere on how to adjust)...since mine does the same. Cold air for a while, then starts getting warmer. Turn off the A/C for 5 minutes, and then turn back on, and cold air again.

Thanks.
When I had my freeze switch dysfunction, it blew 'snow' through the center vent. I may have had more environmental humidity in New England than the OP in Texas.

I never see water underneath either but that is most likely because the drains empty out on to the exhaust and it gets evaporated before it hits the ground.
