[QUOTE=Imo000;10659957]What will they sit on?

lightly padding seating areas with 5/8" thick lightweight dense foam, navy leather and navy carpet over that, It's not our commuter car so they'll be comfortable enough i think.

If not Imo000, i can give them something removable to sit on to make it more comfortable. lots of products for this.

RS shouldn't have the rear seating, and it will eventually lose the 5-pt harnesses and look like an RS when kids outgrow the rear seats, but i want to be able to go to Hershey this year with the family.
Not going to be a trailer queen. Thanks for the input.

[QUOTE=77tony;10659999]Right again, water with lemon. Looking good Matt. T

Thanks Tony, ditto on your Just Peachy

[QUOTE=Shawn Stanford;10660380]Water w/lemon? On our way to a few days on Cape Cod with a Cayenne full of liquor!

Had one but never filled it with liquor!
Have a great time Shawn, great fun to travel in a Cayenne, wish i didn't sell mine.
What year?/post a pic.
I had a 2005 Platinum Silver Metallic S, that thing did everything well. Bought it slightly used with 25ish k miles in 2007, kept it until about a year ago, not an issue but the coolant pipes, mine failed while racing a Mustang!
Wife didn't like it though after I customized the exhaust, sounded like a serious muscle car! Post a pic of your liquored up Cayenne. And have a safe trip!

No holes of any kind will be drilled/cut in the uni-body to try and lighten the car further, that kind of thing would bug me in the end. Don't mind altering hatch or hood. Pic of Boy removing a few tabs that will be in the way of new carpet.

3.0 hrs.: Remove headliner panel, sunroof mech and raise headroom 1"
by stretching also lightened non stressed roof interior metal.
minus another 33+ lbs.
Could have tacked in roof metal but no metal panel in shop big enough.

There is a way to cut that whole roof box out. Supposedly there are still non-sunroof panels in Germany still.

I had some pics from when I took mine out, but I can't find them at the moment.

Factory sunroofless roof: 16.5 lbs. The sunroof panel itself is a freaking brick, I bet it's half of that 32 lb pile of parts.

Maybe a modifield child seat that has a back rest or a removable back rest would be a safer set up.

The Hershey Porsche swap meet and all the shows and parades are in April, unless there is another one that I don't know of, so you don't need to worry about making it this year.

78-89 sunroofless roof is 928 503 501 02, 90-95 is 928 503 501 03. AFAIK the only difference is the (square) hole for the roof antenna.

Right the sunroof panel must weigh 20 plus pounds, lot of weight that high up while cornering, will weigh..The sunroof panel is so well made that after shaping the roof panel in a concave manner on bag i touch it up by placing the sheet metal on the sunroof panel and wacked it into shape in the other direction.

I can maybe still do the correct inner roof panel, I didn't think it was available.
The headliner panel is tough to find as well (in navy blue) correct?
I have so little time to investigate this stuff i really appreciate the help.
May have to patch and stretch the thin navy hide over it as Tony77 advises..

done tacking in roof panel, shaped on a sand bag, turned out very nice only took 1.5 hours. Will take another 3 filling it in entirely with weld and grinding it smooth. Should need very little body filler the shape formed very well sand bag. Pleased. Want to get this milestone done before we leave again, get a coat of body filler on.. I went a little too quick in end and warped the panel on the passenger side middle, it's a little low. Will try heating and tapping it up, it's shadow can be seen in bottom photo. Other than that it looks real nice. The 23 ga. panel weighed 3ibs 7 oz. so plus 4 lbs or so.

I meant this upcoming year. I know it's in April, hope to see you there. I'll be in the Gulf Blue 928.

Nice thing about deleting stuff is you get a lot of nice Porsche hardware for the drawer.

Weighed the sunroof panel by itself: 17 lbs.

Cut that inner sunroof panel out as well - the one youve taken patches off already and save more weight. I used an air tool and angle grinder on mine.

Hey Fixer,

I've been meaning to post these two pics since I noticed your 'duck tail' add-on. Did you know of these pictures before you started ? They're from the Projekt 928 book; a prototype used for handling/weather testing. No idea why they had the rear spoiler as I never saw it again since (until you made one, that is!)

Just thought you might like to know . . .

No I was not aware, will look at it though..thanks for posting. all dressed for grinding out the inner roof panel.

Just looked, wow, its looks almost exactly like my wing. Wonder if i should pull a mold as imo000 asked..
what is going on on the fenders??

Are you all familiar with 924 Carreras?, the interior is what i will be trying to emulate,
And I am still mulling over the idea of smaller fixed headlamps (motorcycle) covered with a molded lexan.
I need to experiment first with the lexan. May be nice without lexan if that proves too tricky.
I may call Chuck Beck and see if he will offer advice..
Going to make a lot of sparks now, will tune in in a few days.

Look here for an interesting 924 Carrera GTS:
http://www.freisinger-motorsport.de/...r_sale/93.html

Porsche has produced 928's with 924 headlamp so you could use the Carrera GTS style ones also on a 928.
