Default How fast have you had it up to?

I've been working on my 84 928s for a while. I got her up to 105 on highway and she seems to smooth out and wanna go from 90 up. I wonder how fast have people had theirs ?

On a particular section of I 95 up here (straight, farming on both sides, clear of brush for animals and troopers) mid 130's easily till I have to come down. At the old Loring Air Base runway (for B-52's in the day and alternate Shuttle landing site) 165-170. I have a friend there who lets me run. I had some rpm left, but she is slow to move up once in the high speed and also lack of runway so I couldn't find my true ceiling.

On a private road, 190km/h of about 120 m/h in your language. She had so much more to give....just ran out of road in my 1985 928S ROW.

Fastest I've ever done in a 928 was 147. I'll let you figure out, if this was km/h or mph.

I won't tell where and when, or who was driving...

But I can tell that I once rode in a 968 Cab with winter tires at 250 km/h on an unlimited stretch of the Autobahn. We slowed down when we started smelling the tires. That's when we were still young, stupid, and wrinkle free...

150 in the S4, I always worry about tires at that speed. My rear tires weren't rated for any extended amount of time at that speed. Pulled steady the whole way.

I whimped out at a buck sixty a couple weeks ago--there was plenty of "bwaaah" available though. It was an area on the autobahn with no on- or off-ramps and no other cars in sight. Still, I couldn't stop thinking about all the stuff that could go wrong... losing a wheel bearing, deer, blowing a tire, little green men landing a spaceship in front of me, etc. I regret not having the fuel rate on the display--I would guess about 5-8 mpg.

Sounds like you haven't fully adjusted to your new environment, yet... j/k

Remember to check our oil level frequently when doing high speed Autobahn driving. I've heard of a few engines that gave up in long sweepers at full throttle.

See my avatar. It also shows the fuel consumption at at that speed. Mine is a Euro 1984S2 with 1987 gearbox. That is why the revs are low on mine at top speed.
Completely stable at those speeds. And I do have the correctly rated tires.

I found a lonely straight stretch of highway. My friend watched the speedometer while I watched the highway. I was able to get it to 262 kph (164 mph) by his reckoning. A couple of interesting things happened. One, the dome lights started to flicker because the rear hatch was actually lifting (so much for down force from the wing). Two, when I did catch up to a car that I did not see when I started, I was going more than twice his speed. That kind of closing speed is scary. The car did feel pretty solid. I was impressed. I have no desire to repeat. Any minor mishap would create abstract art out bush.

One other note regarding my speed run. I had not red-lined yet, but at those speeds there is a tremendous amount of wind resistance. My car would not go any faster.

I refuse to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me, but there was a claim of 160 MPH on one of our trips to 3rd Coast.
