The Differential Off warning is letting you know there is a fault in the PSD limited slip differential system. A search on this forum for PSD will bring a wealth of information on diagnosis and troubleshooting. By " engine shaking" do you mean the engine is running rough or just that it visibly rocks side to side while idling? The engine mounts, if in good condition, allow the engine to rock side to side to prevent those vibrations from being transfered to the rest of the car.

if the engine is shaking,
then you better take a look at the cats if they are glowing red then shut the car off and make sure its parked away from any buildings as it can catch fire .

.inspect the coil wires and the temp relay on the CE panel see if you find either the red or green LED is illuminated if so then one of the temp sensors has failed or there is an issue with the coil wires shorting out

Default PSD

Just to prepare you, to do anything other than add fluid to the PSD, you will need to remove the driver's rear wheel liner. When you do that you may find (most of us have) that the liner falls apart. You may luck out and get one "remove and reinstall" free, but you will then want to read Jerry Feather's threads on a new liner he has fabricated. You should be sitting down when you get to the price.

On the 928oc.org list is a step-by-step for flushing the PSD reservoir.

Don't despair, it can all be handled with help here. Good luck.

Good day gentelmen,

You are all right accept this car dose not have catalist system because it is Saudi spec.

For the PDS i think yes it needs rebuild because i bought this car was parked for about 15 years.

So now for sure i am going to check and maybe rebuild the PDS.

Now the next question. What else i need to do for this car.Do i need to do full PM and else from your experience.

Thanks

Welcome - nice car

The first thing you need to do is contact Roger Tyson of 928srus.com

I say this because he has a fair few middle east customers, and may be able to put you in touch with other local owners who can share experience, shipping costs, and the names of reliable mechanics.

He can also advise you on the common set of parts to get the car working right.

Your first starting points should be:

1. Timing Belt and water pump jub
2. Intake manifold "refresh"

You also need to have (and read) the following information:

Porsche 928 workshop manuals
http://www.2010.cannell.co.uk/manual...s_porsche.html

Dwayne's excellent writeups
http://www.dwaynesgarage.norcal928.org/

Specifically, Dwayne's Timing Belt and Intake write-ups:
http://www.dwaynesgarage.norcal928.o...0Procedure.htm

http://www.dwaynesgarage.norcal928.o...%20Refresh.htm
(note these are both for an 87 S4 - which is nearly identical to your car for those jobs, except for an extra breather hose from the left-side of the car, which the GTS gained).

Awesome set of options on your car.. interior shots would be great to see

All that wood - awesome. And only 30k miles.
If you need lists of parts for your projects email me at roger@928srus.com

Terry Hilton is the 928 tech in Dubai and Fred is a 928 owner in Oman. Where are you?

Nice car--love the unique colors! I would rank the PSD low on the list of things to repair, but you can find the manual on how to flush the system here: http://www.928intl.com/repair/psd1.pdf

In the event the unit needs rebuilt, I highly recommend Harald Stein @ http://www.stein-aviation.de/html/psd_engl.html

Best of luck and again, great car!

Hi shaikh,
I live in Dubai and also have an ex Saudi GTS. Mine had also been sitting for a number of years when i got it and as you probably know the combination of extreme heat and sand is not ideal for these cars.
Having said that your interior looks fantastic in the pictures so perhaps your car was stored better than mine.
There are about 8-10 of us in Dubai with Various 928's and as Roger mentioned above, Terry is our local 928 Guru. If you send me a PM, I will put you in touch with him even if its only for some advise over the phone as he doesnt get on RL very much at all.
I travel to Saudi (Damman/Al Khobar) every six weeks or so and would happily come and meet you on my next trip and give you the benefit of my experience with my car or if you ever come to Dubai i will introduce you to Terry and the others.
I have used Roger tyson in the US for every single part on my car (and i have replaced most of them but thats another story) and his service is fantastic especially considering how far away we are, highly reccomended.
Also, the expertise and the willingness to help from the people on this site is astounding and something i have not come across before as can be witnessed from the answers above so you are not alone!!!!
Good luck with the car and get in touch when you can.
Cheers

Hi,

Welcome to the tank! Perhaps we can call you Sheikh 928?

Before you do anything it would help if you can advise what to your knowledge has been done to your 928 historically. With 50k km on the clock in our part of the world this can be a "good thing" but it can also be a "bad thing" depending on how it has been used and where it has been kept. The photo's do not tell me a whole lot other than it may well be a very nice example [which we hope it is]. If it has been kept in an a/c'd garage and driven at weekends -fantastic. If it has been left for months on end sat idle [all to often the case] then who knows except the big chap upstairs!

If the PSD alarm is always there then something is wrong. I have never had a PSD problem other than false alarms but then I have my PSD system flushed every couple of years or so.

Tell us what you know and then we can better advise you.

Regards

Fred

Just saw a later post of yours- "not run for 15 years".

If you do not know when the timing belt was last replaced do not run your engine until you have talked this through with us!

Regards

Fred

Nice Car.
I you want to get to know your car better purchase Jim Moorehouse's Technical CDs from Roger. It will be the best small investment you will make to help you with your GTS.

My car when I purchased it had 47,000 km on the clock and was a Hong Kong car, but that was nearly 13 years ago.
