Will be selling one of my 2 unique 928s
Just committed to purchasing a Cayman so I will need to make room eventually. I figure I would test the waters here before going to EBAY.
I have both a '84 Euro S 5-spd with 69k and a '79 convertible. I am torn on which to sell....so much work into my Euro and my kids want me to have a vert which I just spent $$$$$ to have a Jacquemond front bumper cover and rockers put on as well as a fresh paint job with all trim removed.
The '84 Euro has a nice paint job that was 1 year old when I purchased it 3 years ago. When I got it, I snapped the TB while accelerating hard. Fearing the worst, I pulled the motor. Luckily, after compression and leakdown tests, there was no damage. I did everything you should do when the motor is out with all new partsseals and lines. The car also has a new leather dash, new windshield, and a low mile Pascha interior that I just installed. It also had Bilstein/Eibach suspension and Carrera III wheels. It comes with a low mile G28/10 trans and torque tube that I never installed. It still has the earlier trans which shifts great, I just prefer the newer boxes. MUch more with many extras.... $15,000.
The '79 Convertible I purchased this winter for @$4k. When I got it, I was disappointed in the paint which was 15-20 years old from the time of the conversion. It also had a broken front bumper cover and fog light. I stripped the interior and pulled all old wiring that was not original. I decided to get it painted and stripped it for paint. I had the vert top restitched with a new window as well. I also had him put on a Jacquemond front bumper cover and side skirts. The paint came out great. The black leather interior that I pulled from my Euro is going into this. I have been getting it all back together but still have a little more. I also purchased 8" Euro headlights and some Carrera II lightweights for it as well as brand new s4 fog/turn signals. I have lots of extra parts that can come with it as well. The car runs great, it just needs all the lights to be put back, which I can do if it sells instead of the Euro. I now have over $11,000 into it.
I am torn on which to keep, because I have so much time and $ in the Euro and to me it is the ultimate 928. 310hp Euro S 5-spd with a Pascha interior. But the kids always wanted me to have a convertible.
If someone wants the Euro with the original leather seats instead of the Pascha, I will swap them back in.
Not a fire sale and I am in no rush. email me at meredithbuilder@insightbb.com if you are interested.

Buy a Boxster S (convertible) $ 62,100 instead of a Cayman S $ 63,800, save $ 1,700, keep the 84 euro/pascha car and sell the 79 convertible ? Nice to have options.02 T

I want a Cayman because I want a later model Porsche as well again. Used to have a 993 Turbo and a 993 that I drove all the time in all weather. With the amount of work I have done on the Euro 928, I just look at it as a classic driver for events and nice weather fun. The vert would be the same obviously.
Can't turn back because the deal is already done. I just need to send the check and set up transport. If I can't get what I want, I may just pick up a second lift for the garages. I have room and they are under $3k. I just really don't need 4 cars for myself and a fifth for the wife.

Here is a thread on the car and what it was like when I got it:

PM me your email and I will get more pictures this weekend and give you more details. The car runs and drives nice. I have the top installed now as well as most lights and trim.

You are experienced enough to realize that all 3 will provide you a very different experience from each other.
It is always difficult to part from 2 very unique cars. You always know that once they are gone from your care the chances of finding them again as slim.
I guess the questions are, providing you can afford it, by selling one of them, will you miss it? And if you keep them both, will you keep on driving them both, given the fact that you most likely be driving the Cayman more?
If the answer to the above 2 questions contains a No, then you have your answer.
