Default Mcintosh in a 928. Got a picture?

My Nakamichi MBV1 crapped out on me. I like the unit and might buy another one.

My 2nd choice was the Mcintosh units. I've searched here and no one has posted a picture with the Mcintosh installed. Anyone got a picture?

Sent you a PM also. Here's mine:

This is an MX401 (and it is not a rebranded Clarion 7770, as you will sometimes see on the 'net- different faceplate, for one thing). McIntosh also made an MX406 and MX4000, which look similar to their home equipment. Mine performs very well, and I think the look is sufficiently old-school to not look out of place in the car.

I had no idea McIntosh made head units like that. All I'd seen up to now were ones that resembled the home units. I have to say those look great in British cars. Think I'd still go with Nakamichi for the 928.

Thanks. I've never seen the 401 before. However, I'm still looking for a picture of the 406 in a 928. Anyone?

The Seth car (89 gt, red on black) had one in it if I recall.
I might have a pic of it somewhere deep in my computer. I'll see if I can dig it up

Do you already have an amp? Need one for the Mk, IIRC. I hunted one for a long time..found mostly Subaru units. And a few North of $1K. My ears aren't THAT finicky when it comes to music, just the exhaust note.

The face plates are interchangeable and the 7770 remote option works with the MX401 (which was never offered with a remote).

Pure coincidence.....

The pictures that I've seen seem to show it comes with a small amplifier much like my current Nakamichi. I am buying it for asthetic reasons first and of course because they are highly regarded and great sounding. I wish the McIntosh logo lit up like their home stuff. That would look really cool. I'm on the fence since the new Nak can be had for about a third of a new Mcintosh. I've seen used one's go for@ 450 but mostly closer to 7 hundred. First I need to see one installed in a 928- preferably an OB. Hate to spend that kind of money and have it not fit!

Quick Reply: Mcintosh in a 928. Got a picture?
