My 87S4 w/ 108K on the clock is still having fan issues. I swapped out all components FCM & amplifier and one still did not work. Fuses are fine. Found wires on non working fan were touching. Seperate them, electric tape & now it works (passenger). But now the drivers side fan is intermittent. When it doesn't work, I pull fuse (it's not blown) & put it back & it works like a charm until it decides to not work the next time I drive it. Temp reading just a hair below the top white mark.
Also the AC isn't icy cold. When I stick my finger in the apparatus (sorry don't know the name) underneath passenger footwell, the door has plenty of tension on it. It appears to be closed pretty good. I have the front vent locked open. Should that door be open or closed?
Typing from a phone, sorry

Not all problems with fan amplifiers are simply the output transistors. Sometimes the "logic" part of the amplifier fails.
However, if you can remove the fuse and then replace it....and this allows the fans to work correctly, my guess would be that there is an intermittent "high current draw" problem with that fan. Try another fan.....there are still good used ones available. I know that I've got a large box filled with them.....and suspect that others do, also.
