cam gear install help
I changed my cam gears today and I do not feel compfortable with something I did. The driver gear came off the mark by quite a bit so I went all the way around cllockwise to match it up again. I am locked at the flywheel. This is on 87 32 valve

If you have the crank locked at 45 degrees you can turn the cams without any fear of piston to valve contact, and you should be completely fine. If it was locked at TDC there is a risk of bending valves. If at TDC and you where able to rotate the cam with out any increased resistance due to valve contact it is probably okay. At this point, the best best thing to do would be to run a compression or leak down test to verify the valves are still sealing properly.
