question: I would like to stop the seepages that develop around the auto transmission lower pan gasket. Has anyone had any success with using a gasket sealant between the gasket and the transmission? If so, did it make any difference?
Thanks
Mike

If you are getting seepage I would think your pan needs replacing. I never used anything.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

RTV wreaks havoc in the auto trans if even a tiny bit gets loose in the hydraulics.
No sealant is needed when the pan is straight. Check yours on a known flat surfeace (wife's new granite kitchen countertops...) with a thin feeler gauge. If it's warped, replace with new. The tightening torque on the sump bolts is amaxingly small, and they need to be drawn up evenly. Use a torque wrench. Use a torque wrench. Use a torque wrench. Use a torque wrench. MODEL YEAR or Gear Box type PLEASE!!!! There is a problem with the gasket on the 4 speeds - MB superseded it years ago with a better one, but Porsche still sell the old one that splits at one of the bolts. Search for a post by Tails on this where he gives the new part number.
