Default Need 928 shop in Austin, Texas area (drain tank/fuel pump)

Friends,

I've just picked up an '87 S4 with a seized fuel pump. I don't have the facilities to take care of the job myself right now. Is there a good shop in the Austin area that could do this?

Thanks, Josh

Are you sure that's all that's wrong with it? Usually cars that have other issues sit because the owners either do not have the expertise or the money to fix them. After the car sits for a while, the fuel pump (which apparently have tight tolerances) corrodes and becomes non-functional. It is then easy for the seller to claim that "all the car needs is a fuel pump" and it is ready to go.

Just sayin'

I think you need to ask yourself if you are ever going to be in a position to work on the car. a fuel pump off of Amazon is $98 but paying a shop to diagnose; repair, acquire part and fix could be MUCH more.... Plus you're going to have to pay for a tow.

If you really want to own this car, I'd suggest you find the means to dig into the car yourself.

Good Luck AND Welcome!

Bonton,

Welcome. I have seen other Rennlisters talk about TPWS in Austin.

Bonton,.
Contact James Morrison in Austin. He is the cat daddy of all the 928 owners in and around the Austin area. He is also Prez of the 928 Owners Club and he should be able to help ou find a suitable shop.

Talk to Matt at TPWS. I've been taking my 928s to him since 1990 for jobs I don't want to tackle myself.

Try Mark Robinson -- he's a RLer. PorscheSolutions.

A hobbiest, but a 928 expert in NW Austin. Does most of his Porsche work
out of his home.
