Reeled in a shark (with Pics)
After doing a bunch of reading and research I found a 928 that looked promising. On 5/14 I headed out from DFW to Atlanta (12 hour drive) in my F-150. The next morning I drove down to Macon, GA to look at the 928 and work out the details.
I few hours later everything was worked out. I rented a U-haul auto transport, loaded up my new 928 and headed back home. Little did I know this would be the same day the huge tornado/storms hit around the DFW area.
It was definitely a stressful drive back. Around Louisiana the rain started picking up and at times I was only able to go about 20MPH because of visibility. Luckily by this time it was getting late and the roads were pretty empty.
Then my wife called it was hailing at home and in the direction I was headed. The auto transport is open! At this point it was very late and I had few options no hotel/motel along the route seemed to have covered parking, all the weather forecasts either showed the hail part of the storm turning north or heading straight for me.
I took a chance and kept driving, hoping the hail would miss me. Luckily the hail part of the storm did turn north instead of ruining both cars (some pics people in the storm path were sharing showed grapefruit size hail ). Then at 3AM, still raining, and 25 miles from my house the auto transport blew a tire (completely shredded). I managed to pull over to the side and had to wait for some poor guy to come and replace the tire.
Finally around 4:20AM and 16 hours of brutal driving conditions and worrying I pulled into my driveway. Everything had made it home in one piece, myself included.
TL;DR
I'm the third owner of a 1987 928 S4 in Venice Blue Metallic. It has 94K miles and 25 years of service history.
After a week at the in-laws (which is why it took me so long to post) I'm looking forward to diving in. First order of business is TB/WP service, last time it was done was 76k - only 18K miles ago, BUT 8 years ago. Roger I'll be calling you shortly
Sean and Roger if you guys want to come over and check her out (food/beer of course) I'd love to get your opinion.
Oh yeah and i'm now a full Rennlist member

Good lucking car and congrats on the purchase. Might have to take you up on the offer.

I had spoken to the dealer about this car over two months ago. He had it sold and the buyer pulled out at the last minute. The dealer seemed like a straight shooter. Looks good!

Nice Car!! Interior looks very good
If that is a kind of dolphin grey color, you will love the looks of the car once you get some nice wheels on it. That is one of my favorite colors

Three Wheelin'
Very nice!!! Do yourself a favor and KEEP the 80's concealed radar detector (if it still works). I have one in my car and it picks up X and K bands very well (not Ka or Laser). Actually picks them up a few seconds BEFORE my $200 unit in the window... A lot of rural cops still use X & K. I tell people that it came with the car phone (yes, its still in the car for asthetics). "Its an 80's thing..." Might save you from a ticket too!
Great find!! Enjoy the ride!!!
