Firstly, Hello All.
So, Im about to buy the car i thought i'd never own!. Im really looking to be getting behind the wheel of a 1991 928 s4 in a week or so.
It's Dark blue with 80klms on the clock. Belts, suspension renewed with full service history. Link is here.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used...-596817876.htm Take a look please.
I will be picking it up from the North island in New Zealand and driving back down to the South island. A real great road trip even if we are going into Winter here.
So guys, Can you tell me the common problems, without deflating me too much lol.. Also why you are still pleased to be an owner..
Im sure i will be back with some more questions. I like the look of the rear muffler bypass mod.. Although im not really into mods..It would be a crime though not to hear the 5ltr in its full Awesomness eh..
Thanks.

I live in Auckland - and have the very same model/color and about same KMs (ex Japan) call in when you pick up the car and I can share my ownership experiences. Peter at Motorscience did my PPI and also serviced my car for the PO - he continues to service it now although I cant help but do some improvements and preventative mentainance things myself. I also get most of my parts from the USA - great service and help from all the 928 Vendors. These cars are fun to own but need good/regular service which is not cheap.
Email for mobile number etc.

Thanks for the heads up Nicole.
Although looking through the threads, the techy stuff is going way over my head. Im now thinking to much techy issues for me to handle..
Yeah, the only bug for me is the repaired damage to the dash.
The guy also has the front lower skirt too which was taken off due to catching speed humps etc...

If the car does not have the front spoiler, the front belly pan cannot be installed. This part is more than $250 to replace, if missing. If the second belly pan is missing also, this could get expensive.
The front spoiler is meant to be scratched-up over time. That's why it is not painted. In combination with the belly pans it is the main reason why the S4 and later models have better aerodynamics than the earlier cars. If you buy the car, make sure you get all three pieces, and reinstall them. If he doesn't have all three pieces, you may have some leverage on the price.

From the looks of it I'd say the price is fair and the car seems to be in good shape. Still, DO NOT BUY IT WIHOUT A PPI from an experienced 928 Mechanic. Its that simple. Not to scare you off... the car is probably fine, but a PPI is worth its weight in gold (keeps you from buying a $12K car and dumping another $5K right off the bat). It also gives you leverage to bargain with the seller as you'll know what is right and EVERYTHING that is not with an idea of what it'll cost to fix/replace. Frankly, that's just Used Car Buying 101... If you have any 928 owners near you - get together and work on each others cars... You'll have a great time, drink some cold ones, and learn a TON about your car!!! Its very rewarding to turn your own wrenches and it takes some of the mystery out of the "techie stuff"... I'm no mechanic, but I have friends who think they are...
Drive the car ONCE and you'll buy it... Enjoy the car!!!
