P.S. I would only deal with Frank under duress, and it would have to be extreme. His prices are outrageous, and I'm being generous here....
I'll go with Mark Anderson first and foremost.
I have a good used compressor and a brand new seal kit. The compressor was taken apart to see what the internals look and its in excellent condition. Come and pick it up and its yours.

I think it will. Bring your car and we'll compare the two and then I'll take you for a spin in the 996.

Can anyone identify what I've got in there in terms of manufacturer and model maybe?
was the system converted to R134a Rob?

If it was hopefully theres a copy of what was changed so at least we would know where to start.

Not "Officially" (read properly) changed over. So, that's where I'm heading now. The rear has been gone over (twice now) from the solenoid back, with a new expansion valve, and I'm going to start re-ringing at the solenoid and work forward. The plan is to finish up with the compressor replacement. One of my friends has a good gauge set and a good vacuum pump, so once I'm done I can pull it down overnight to purge and check it .
Then on to a fresh 134a charge.
Part of my problem I think was the increase in static pressure over R12. Pretty sure that caused a lot of the trace leakage I'm seeing at the junctions when the old "O" rings couldn't handle the higher pressures.
