Default Manual Transaxle Question

Since I will be needing a Trans rebuild at anyway 55k miles on the '84 and I'm guessing the PO wasn't as nice to this car as he could have been, is there any drawbacks to trying out the GM Syncromesh fluid ? I can't justify a rebuild at this time. I put the Redline NS in it last month and if I drive like a sissy it shifts real nice on upshifts but still a little slow on downshifts. Shifting from 1st to 2nd in the high RPM range pretty much hit or miss and will grind depending on how long I wait to shift. I have heard good things about this stuff and I really DO NOT CARE how it treats the ring and pinion, I want better shifting until I can find a 86 gearbox at a "Reasonable" price or I decide to rebuilt the stock box.

GM 88861800

I have every receipt and none for a clutch so I'm guessing it's original, No slipping at all and no grinding from neutral to 1st or reverse so I assume it's in proper adjustment

Double clutch and the shifting should become smoother.

What exactly is it doing?

These don't shift fast, period.
Including the 85+ boxes.

Respectfully, do your expectations need calibration?

try the GM fluid,
there was another poster that has installed it,
and his trans shifts great,
report back your experiences,
it could be new syncros in a bottle

Coming from Honda s2000 going to a BMW M Roadster that shifted like butter I bet I have high expectations, but my 79 928 had 130k when I got it 325k when I sold it , I knew what I was in for ........just didn't expect it so soon
