Default Replacing the cruise control cable - need a how to

Did the obligatory searches.

Pulled the wheel, wheel arch liner, threaded he old cable out of the engine bay and threaded the new one into the engine bay.

How does one disconnect the cable at the cc?

Pulled the unit from the car, looked at the new cable and see that it snaps in. Ok.

So, does the rubber/plastic separate from the bottom of the unit to give me access to pop the old cable end off?

if the ball cup end is square ,
try sliding the metal overlay back to release the ball from the plastic end

All done - the protection cap wiggles off to reveal three phillips screws. After that it's a piece of cake.
