Default AC gas/freon

Hello- I just get the car started after sitting for 10 months.I love to hear the V8. I wonder is it normal to loss all Freon for just sitting for 10 months?

Our Merc SL & BMW did not loose its Freon.

Yeah I guess so- But we will just use the car for one months plus- then it will be parked again....for another 10 months. So I think once we are back here for good- We will do the repairs

The a/c on these cars does not like to sit idle. The seal face in the compressor dries out, especially in warm climates and off goes the gas when that happens. If the car is not in general use you should have someone run the a/c system along with the rest of the engine monthly for a few minutes. Some folks even lose their gas in European type winters as they do not use the a/c and wonder why several months later- there is no gas!

Regards

Fred

Similarly, your tires will flat spot if left for more than about 2 weeks with the weight on them but a quick run will reverse that. At some point thereafter this becomes irreversible and your tires are toast.

You cannot expect to leave these cars for 10 months and then return as though nothing will happen- it does and it will not be good.

If you are not going to use the A/C then disconnect the fuse from the compressor clutch, as you may not know whether you have lost any lubrication oil out of the system and by running it you may run it dry.

Isn't there a pressure switch to disable the compressor if the system has no charge?

Fred,

So you are saying if I recharge it again- It will be fine? Our car tires are OK. I'm surprise to see.. The car first starts up- Bits of hiccups at first but it settle itself after few minutes. So now it starts very good now.

Refill the AC it two days ago. So far so good...BTW I sent it to the carwash last week. The unfortunate happen. This small boy so eager to move the Porsche to the other side to dry the car & hit our other car (S class). What a way to spoil the holiday mood. The dent is repaired now- Left to polished.
