Yes. I was just putting together a little info about our preparation this year to post. What changes we have made for this year, etc. I'll post it when I get a chance.

I figure this to be our last try at a number I have in my head that I would like to see. Bonneville takes much more preparation and effort than even Pikes Peak did, and we are all anxious to return to a solid year of road-racing without interruption.

I will never be as fast as a dedicated Bonneville land-speed car, with their lengthening and narrowing and chopped roofs, etc. My car being full stock 928 width and length and height and wheelbase and track. Hardly a dedicated Bonneville racer. It's a road-racer gone to Bonneville to see what we can do.

The short wheelbase makes it exceptionally twitchy at speed - any gust of wind can bring it around, like this:

I miss reading about the Pikes Peak deal, that was a real joy to read, watch and see the results. As cool as going fast in a straight line can be, I'd rather see the PP stuff.

Greg, I have to side with Carl on this one. Don't be so closed minded about boost. I have personally built an 89' auto with 630rwhp and just got done with an 88' 5-speed that did 526rwhp with nothing more than cams and one of my full exhausts and it did it with only 8.5psi of boost. It can easily approach 200mph and has done so. As far as your real world horsepower vs. dyno horsepower...the 88' left a new Shelby Mustang w/662 crank hp at a high speed roll. The faster they went the further the 928 pulled ahead. I was not there but I'm sure the math will hold up pretty well, 5500rpm in 5th still pulling. Yes, it has the 2.2 rear. No, the clutch wasn't slipping.

I can appreciate a stroker and love the work you do. You are an artist, not a mechanic. If I didn't have the quantity of cars coming and going I would love to devote more time to improving the 928. Just don't be all JKish and swear that there is only one way to get there. A lot of supercharged 928 owners out there get pretty tired of hearing it.

I completely agree. The hill climb is a much better match to the attributes of a 928 than land speed racing. And more challenging for the driver, too.

Still, if you want to put your name on a Bonneville Land Speed record, you kinda have to go to Bonneville. It goes with the territory.

But Pikes Peak is my favorite. Delighted to see Sebastion Loub in a purpose built Peugeot sponsored by Peugeot going this yer. Good for the race to have a internationally-ranked driver headline the event.

You can always come out and play with us at the Silver State Classic. Definitely more suitable for the 928.
