What is this connector for?

Did you find the WSM's online ?
Also go to 928sRus.com. Email Roger Tyson, the Proprietor (a fellow Englishman) and he can get you the Jim Morehouse CD set. These have the work shop manuals, wiring diagrams and tech bulletins. I never used them but the Forum says they are good.

Tim - OK that makes sense - reset switch under pod. Do always tell us what year too because that usually makes quite a difference, or better - add a signature with those details after you become a member...
The configs always have a spare (taped up) connector in the pod - on USA cars its the rear fog switch while on ROW cars its the large pod type reset switch. So you are in the company of many here - this allowed Porsche to use a single loom for all models.
BTW - I was born in Southampton, been to Lymington many many times - mostly to visit the nice pubs, but also hiking nearby and sailing too. Ouch on the petrol costs for a 928!

Thanks Alan. I'll tape her back away safe in the knowledge the harness is supposed to be there!
Great to hear you're originally from near here - I'm getting the impression it's predominantly a US forum?
I just moved down to Lymington last year for a new job. I do love it as I sail and mountain bike so there's plenty on offer with The Solent and New Forest.
I've been running an E46 BMW M3 cab for the last couple of years, so I'm not used to frugal consumption. However, I do think the 928 is a new level...I can't really tell as, like most things my odometer isn't working so I'm living in blissful ignorance until I get the pod off and replace the little cog, which is presumably broken. The M3 is making way for the 928 as my daily driver.
Thanks for your advice, I have so many issues, which I'm trying to wok through; I'm sure the knowledge on this forum will save me many sleepless nights.
