I have seen an example where the bumper was blended into the fender using putty/bondo of some type so it was intended to look seamless. While it probably looked good when fresh, over time, the flex at that joint caused unsightly cracking.

Search is your friend: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...fog+light+lens

On my car I cut the mounting bracket off with a dremmel tool. If you are going to remove the bumper cover than you can easily get to the nuts that secure the bracket to the bumper and remove the entire mounting bracket. It's a nice update but a bit of a PITA to do.

I have come accross that thread before and could not find it again when I searched. Thanks for the link, that's just what I needed.

This sounds correct to me.

I plan to delete the seals or welting if/when i re-re-paint my car down the road.

I would not try and blend the seam btwn valence and fender however.. very, very bad idea.

Regarding the new $10,000 paint matching computer eyes, they cost $10,000 for a reason, they work very well with the right operator/tech.

Non metallic red would be very easy to match exactly this way.
But it is your car and money and i wish you luck.

I am probably over thinking this but I am still a little confused on what to do with this bracket. Do I completely delete it to fit the clear bumperettes?

Cool, hope it turns out terrific. It's a nice red. Good job removing it yourself it should turn out great.

One important thing,

When re inserting the headlight squirters, if paint has built up in the holes when you push the squirters in, it can create a small crack in the PU valence and paintwork perpendicular to the center of the hole when forcing in the squirters.
Be sure they dont have too much paint build up on the sides of the squirter openings, a slight careful sanding with 600 if the squirter/s seem too tight going in.
It happened to me. Good luck.

I presume you bought the clear lenses from Nicole. She should have instructions for that install. I do remember it was a PIA when I did mine but you will be happy with the results especially with that new paint. Also might want to consider going with the LED's in the front blinkers so they won't look like orange blobs behind those new clear lenses. T

Yes-- chuck it in the garbage! Excess weight....
The new clear lens screws into the side of the fog/driving light assembly just like the existing clear lens on the other side. You will need a small speed nut to complete the install. Have fun, you will definitely like the new look.

Thanks guys, I am a horder though so I never through anything away. As far as the nozzles we are going to fill them for a cleaner look. I did get my lenses from Roger so no instructions were with them. As long as I know that I will not be putting the bracket back on I am sure I will figure it out at install.

Finally got it back from the paint shop and yes pics will be coming soon. I am right on the threshold of whether I think it is a good color match. The more I look at it the more I like it but it is not perfect. It looks very good from the top front but a little off in the lower section. I think it might have somthing to do with the old paint getting more sun so it has faded a bit different than the paint on the bottom of the fender. If there is a place that looks off it is definetely the area where the bumper cover meets the fender below the amber marker light. I did go with clear coat since that is what my painter felt comfortable doing. The charge was $350 and he did a nice job filling in the headlight washer holes and dealing with the stone chips.

Don't worry about the color. My car is 4 or 5 shades of red. Each panel matches one one edge, but not he other. Just drive it!

Yes, it is a 25 year old street rod and not a trailer queen but I do want it to look awesome on the street. Here are a few pics. My wife and son thought it looked perfect.

Looks great in pictures... but then a lot of people have been led astray with pictures.

It looks great!

Can I ask you a dumb question: how much does the bumper cover weigh?
