Getting it running like it came from the factory is the best start. Nothing you can add to it is going to help.

You are the one who has the most impact on fuel mileage.....especially around town in traffic. On the open highway driving SLOWER makes a big difference as well.

Im usually on the highway most of the time so it helps me a lot apposed to being in the city. Well I guess I can could start by a complete tune up. But I found this that my buddy uses. He said it helped a lot.

The best additives is to "clean" the injectors & gunk off. Anything else is a waste of money.

Chevron gas already includes the cleaning agents so if you normally use Chevron, then dont get the additives.

That being said, I wonder if it is better to get a gas without an additive then add it yourself (ie which gas company provides the most mpg per tank)

Good point on this, well money wise its better to go for a fuel that has those additives, functional wise I have not 1 clue!

First thing might be to use low octane fuel which costs less....and is what your car was designed to use. Additives have been proven over and over and over to be a waste of money more of a marketing gimmick than anything else and a way to TRY to differentiate a product which flows through common pipelines before it gets branded, colored and additives added.

56 mpg, highway, passenger load: 2 humans, 2 cats in carriers, 40 lbs bag of litter, 3 bags groceries; mostly level terrain, traffic conditions = good, trip length = 73 miles, personal observation.

I was told by the owner of a local station that the low octane gas has more cleaning additives in it. But who knows.

Run some BG product through it. Depending on how much buildup you have you might see some improvement.

LOL - that's a new one.

Then again, the blend he sells could......but that would not be the norm.
