I have been buying parts for timing belt and water pump job. The car was going in for paint but my daily driver started skipping so that is in the shop. I know it could be worse. Thanks everyone!

Damn bro, I suspect your car probably was well taken care of by the looks of your engine. Replacing the oil isn't all that bad. Now you can use the silicon gasket if you did not have one. Good luck!

Hagen, i'm in Rochester too. I have an 81 US. a person wanted the 102k motor for $500 but it's been over a month since i've heard from him and left 2 messages. if it falls through, i planned on pulling the motor anyway and parting it. if so, the oil pan is yours for $100 if it'll fit your car.

Hagen,
After you get her fixed, get a belly pan. Not 100 % complete protection, but considerably better than 0.0 %. Even a plastic bag getting into your alternator can cause problems.

Hagen I'm also in Rochester. Let me know where the car is I can always help, my fathers shop is in Fairport. If it gets towed there we can look at it. I'm here to help also.

Great update. Got it in the air today and it just took out the oil filter. Boy what a job it did on that! Thing was bent like pretzel and distorted the top of enough to puke all eight quarts out in a heartbeat. Slapped a new filter on it and refilled the oil. She is good to go. To Kawi825 pm sent.

You and I are very, very lucky guys.
I hit an 18" drilling rig pipe that was bouncing down the road about 100 miles east of Tucson. Horrible sounds came from underneath and the car was lifted into the air. I killed the motor and coasted over to the side of the highway. I got out, took a deep breath and knelt down to survey the damage, fully expecting to see a large pool of oil from a punctured oil pan. But there was nothing to see besides my mangled exhaust pipes dangling on the ground. The bellypan was all broken up, sacrificing itself for the greater good of the car, preventing the large pipe from puncturing the oil pan. The pipe had continued on under the car, punching a hole in the rear footwell, grazing and bending but not harming a metal brake line, doing some damage to the shifter cable but missing the trans fluid pan by no more than an inch. The car was more or less drivable although initially the shifter was bound up. I freed that up as best I could and blared down the road, missing half the exhaust. I gladly paid another $350 for a new bellypan. That one gave up its life a year later when another road hazard popped up out of nowhere near Phoenix. Replaced it again. I hope to get a few more years out of this one, but stuff is going to happen if you put miles on the car like I do.
Glad to see the "Great update."

Thanks, it is a great relief. As for the lottery ticket, I could buy them all except the winning one.
