Whew. I didn't figure that out until after I accepted the role when my post became #39 when the real span bot got deleted.

A very light spritz of Hoppe's #9 cures everything. Such a pleasant smell.

One of these:
I run it in the car a couple times a year, and in the boat every couple months.
Restores that 'new' smell.

Hi, I just received a response from the Tech guy at PB, who states...
"Dan,
Thank you for your contact with our company and for being a loyal Blaster customer.
Removing the odor is basically the same thing as removing the product. PB can be removed from parts by washing the area with hot water and dishwashing detergent. If you want to avoid water on meatal parts, any petroleum based solvent (mineral spirits, paint thinner, etc.) will remove it. Bear in mind that as a penetrant, not all of the product will be removed, meaning there might be a residual odor. An odor absorbing powder should take care of that.

Dan,
I can attest that hot water and dish washing detergent have minimal effect even in large quantities over many repeats/soaks - almost useless. White spirit, IPA little effect. Acetone eventually worked for me - but can be pretty aggressive for general use. In the end acetone flushing followed by detergent washing (to eliminate acetone residue smell) -> then plenty of drying/airing time was the ticket.
I wouldn't consider their advice very helpful.

This is true Zoe. The trouble is, Alan is a known troll who in all the years he's been a member here has never, not once, offered useful advice to anyone. That's why we all ganged up on him. The internet is a tough place indeed.
