Default Steering Rack Options?

What's the best path for a rebuilt steering rack for a 87 S4 ?
Was going to have an alignment done because of new tires .... but the Porsche shop said... no there is too much free play on psgr side.... They suggested replacing OEM rack with a rebuilt (by LZ?) and also consider tie rods at the same time.
Drove it home and its not horrible but I would prefer to replace it. Might do it myself ..... but not sure if all rebuilt racks are the same ? & who is currently making the best ones ?
Any info would be appreciated.

928 International carries great rebuilds. I'd start with them. You will want new tie rods inner and outer both sides to go with the new gear.

I got a rebuilt rack from 928 International. They are great quality and come with rack bushings already installed.
Should replace the inner & outer tie rod ends as per Dr. Bob's recommendation above.

Thanks. I'll try 928 Intl.
Mark & Tom were very helpful in the last go round on my car as it needed some hard to find parts after the front bumper cover was removed for painting. Some items werent even in the shop manual & I would e-mail them images so they could tell me what the part was. Cant beat that.
The Porsche shop owner has been great too and knows 928s but he only uses certain suppliers since he is mostly a 356 & 911 restoration / race prep shop .... but my pockets arent as deep as some of his customers.

If it's not actually leaking, just replace the Inner and Outer tie rods (they can be purchased as a unit).
Buy some new Boots and follow the write-up's, should take you about two hrs and can be done w/o a lift.
