Hi Francesco,

congratulations on purchasing your 928!

Some info on servicing the PSD can be found in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...procedure.html

Point I.3. provides you the link towards the Louis Ott and John Veninger documented "PSD FLUID FLUSHING PROCEDURE".

steve and arnoud, thank you!
I googled about this procedure and found everything....
It's not that bad, I think that I will do this fluid change as soon as I find fans trouble....
Thank YOU!!!!!

Ciao Francesco- Congratulations and best of luck with your GTS. My wife and vacationed in the area last year (Villa in Tremezzo) and plan on doing again this year, around the Formula One in Monza. Maybe we can meet up. Beautiful country and people!

Welcome! Absolutely beautiful area AND home of Moto Guzzi—it doesn’t get any better than that. Flushing the PSD is easy after you've done one cycle--similar to bleeding brakes, build pressure (only with a pump) and then bleed it. Curious how your rear wheel well liners are holding up. If yours are falling apart, keep the faith--soon there will be new and improved ones available.

When you get a chance, please post some pictures of your car – extra points if there’s a lake and mountain in the background.

How stock is your GTS?? Search for ****ty aftermarket wiring jobs, the control units go bad causing cheap PO's to wire in some aftermarket controller. That's what happened on my car.

Francesco,

You live in one of the many beautiful areas of Italy. My wife and I spent 3 days in Como, enjoying all of the lake and the lakeside villages about 10 years ago. It was our 3rd or 4th trip to Italy as I recall. Wonderful setting, GREAT food (as there is everywhere in Italy), and wonderful people to help us - we speak very little Italian beyond Ciao!!

There is also a software program that you can use for many diagnostic procedures as well as the PSD flush. It was developed by a 928 Owner in Europe, and usable with a laptop or PC. It is produced by Theo Jenniskens, and I highly recommend it if you are going to do any significant work on your GTS. Plugs into the diagnostic port under the cover beside the passenger seat (Left hand drive cars).

Do a search for Theo Jenniskens on Rennlist and you will bring up information about this software. Also, please note that the procedure you obtained that John Venninger and Louis Ott published is proprietary for 928 Owners Club members. Please consider joining 928 Owners Club, and it will bring you in contact with a lot of 928 Owners and enthusiasts around the world. Web site is: www.928OC.org

Ciao,

PS: If you will send me a direct e-mail, I can forward you a copy of the users manual for the Theo Jenniskens software so you can see what it does. My direct address is: kittyandgary'at'verizon.net (replace the 'at' with @ )

rear Wheel well?are you meaning the plastic sorround of whell wells? They are astonishing in good shape ....The previous owner changed them ...the were breaking like dried bread...
@ John speake :It's a pleasure for me!you are famous in the 928 world , also in Italy!
@chalkboss: see you next september, it would be very nice to know you!
apart from the wiring madness behind the radio, it is pretty stock....but I will search for stange wires and not so original insulation tape around fuse box and ECUs....
Francesco

Curious: here in Italy Lake of como is (become) the place where George Clooney lives. In US is the Moto Guzzi Land....

hi Gary,
I am in touch with theo and he's helping me a lot .....
For the moment I used the hammer to check everything.
Only one fault in the memory: EZk ," no plausible signal coming from knock sensor 1.
erased the fault and never come back.
Fans:
intake sensor out: fans at max speed.
water sensor near thermostat out: fans at max speed.
rad sensor out : fans a max speed....

unplugged the final stage: fans off.
the control unit or the final stage need my attentions. I think I will open them and look for something wrong.

I checked every sensor, but I had to check also the A/C pressure sensor.
WHere it is?
I want to disconnect it to see if fans stop running, but I don't know if it is on the dryer or elsewhere.

The operation of the fan control system is described in great detail in the MY87 "Tech Info" file. Much more info than in the WSM.

These Tech info books, year by year are available from Roger, on CD-ROM. I may be able to scan a section for you...

Regarding the fans - have you tried switching the AC off?

Ie AC button out, and the vent selector somehwere in the middle. I am willing to bet money on this
