Sounds great, Kurt. My GTS is not going to be ready (engine is out and heads are being redone). The white automatic from Texas was sold about 2 years ago, but I have a white 87 5-speed I'm trying to get ready (tried to start it over the weekend and it would crank but not turn over) so hopefully can get it figured out by then.

Meeting at Hooters (car wash would be very good)or your hotel is fine with me. Let's keep in touch and talk mid week of the parade.

I've elected to book a room at the Hampton Inn with option to cancel if an alternative location is selected. It's on the "Parade Route" and has a water view. I'm really not too particular, it's only going to be for one night anyways.

There is a Hooters about 3/4ths a mile down the street... Unless I hear otherwise, I'd like to propose we meet there. The food isn't the greatest, but the decor is usually decent. Might be a good place to take in the sights!

I'm thinking car wash:

I'll be up there late Saturday the 22nd at a friend's crib with 15 other people celebrating a birthday and then will be there till Tuesday the 25th am. Gotta get back to my restaurant Tuesday evening for a function I've booked there. The 928 will NOT be there but my wife's new Miata roadster (replacing the one that got t-boned 5 weeks ago) will be; but I'd still enjoy hooking up with whoever on Sunday afternoon and/or evening. I can be reached at 989.737.9782 for any gig that happens!

Default Saturday the 29th mini get together in TC

For those that will be there for the Parade, but not in the Parade... I propose we view it from this parking lot across the street from the Hampton Inn... as seen in this Google map photo:

Map:
https://maps.google.com/?ll=44.74840...06711&t=m&z=19

Satellite:
https://maps.google.com/?ll=44.74840...06711&t=h&z=19

Steetview:
https://maps.google.com/?ll=44.74849...,30.8,,0,11.13

If anyone in the area could scout this location to see if it's free parking... that would be great. I believe it might be part of Traverse City State Park... which could be a good setting if not full. I see some picnic tables so that might be a good lunch spot (BYO)

Not sure what time the parade actually takes place. Afterwords, we can go to Hooters (or somewhere else) for food, fellowship, and fun.

I'll keep a running total on this post for Sat 29th... so far I think we have (please confirm or deny):

Dave & Krsiti (blue bomber on bottle)
Brain & Ashley (I guess we'll refrain from any Homo comments since his daughter will be there)
Eric (white 5 spd... get r done)
Victor (Rotrex SC)
Dave
Matt
Steve (91 with hips)
Landseer

I would be nice if we had a 928 Banner to hang from the trees. Dave, do you know who has the one we hang at Mark's?

I'm in boys. My 17 year old daughter, Ashley is coming along for the fun. Staying at Dave's place. I hope to get the shark running by then (radiator is out and there are no new Behrs to be found). If not, I'll drive your favorite red, rear engine VW. :-)

Looks like a good spot. I believe that is a state park. I can see the gate house in the satellite view also

I agree, a state park on the parade route should make for a nice meeting place. It's officially called Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park and the beach area has grills and picnic tables. The other side has campsites and bathrooms with a pedestrian bridge over US 31. Approximate Size: 47 (Acres) Recreation Passport Required: Yes. Not sure what a recreation passport is???

I'm thinking a six pack and a sub sitting on folding chairs roadside should do for the afternoon. Once the parade passes, sneak down to the resort to "crash" the party. Check out the vendor tents and what not, buy a t-shirt or whatever else and see what there is to see that is "open to the public". Then pick a cool place to meet up for dinner while the others suit up in black ties.

I talked to Dave and he is looking to see if he has a 928 banner. Also, anyone that hasn't secured accommodations and is thinking about staying the night, the Hampton Inn still has rooms available:

Alright, we got a place on the water for Sunday and Monday night.

The owner is family, and the rental is open thru the remainder of the week.
If you can get a few people together, we might be able to help you work something out.

Sounds great Dave, if we can get it the hands of someone that will be there all week, that would be cool. It appears that many will be there in the beginning, some are staying for the whole thing, and some are coming up for just the tail end. I'm envious I didn't plan to be there earlier in the week and will do my part to hold up the tail end of the event.

If I don't see you in TC, I'll see you in Hell.

Thanks for the tip RE cherry festival... found out Styx is playing... my brother used to be a huge fan, so I bought a pair of tickets. More available for anyone looking to see some old 70's rockers Saturday the 29th.

There is also two airshows scheduled, one at 2 and the other at 10PM:

It's beginning to look like I'm going to the TC Cherry Festival, that just happens to be Porsche Parade weekend too.
