Tensioner Bad?
After replacing the TB and WP, following the instructions to the letter I now have a very poorly running car.
It runs well at first then as it gets up to temp the timing slips off. I have resorted to pulling over and manually adjusting the dizzy a bit, advance and retard. It always seems to run well at low revs but under a load it will start to miss and cough.
Today I took off the passenger side cover to look at the belt and adjustment. The belt was extremely loose, adjusted the tension, road test, ran great for about 5 miles then fell off again.
Note the angle of the belt and the tension roller spins freely as well
Has the tensioner gone south as the car warms it
loosens the belt?
I have new cam gears and everything is right in the marks.

you need to disconnect the battery at once..
Do not start the engine till the front timing cover has come off.
If the timing isnt obviously set wrong then maybe you have a cracked cam snout on the left cam.
Based on the belt pictures this has to be a square tooth belt,
but it may not be routed correctly.
SRSLY disconnect the battery so the engine will not turn over,

I will get the cover off today and take pic's. It's apparent that the belt crept forward towards the radiator and the edge of the belt has been shaved down ab bit as well. The teeth are square on the gears.

While you have the covers off, carefully VERIFY that you have the belt routing correct. We've seen pics of incorrect routing between the tensioner and the right side cam gear before. It's a lot tougher to get the tension right when the belt isn't threaded correctly.
