Default Lost and found '79 928 today

Passing a breakers yard on the way home tonight i spotted a 928 from the hwy. I went in for a closer look after speaking with the yard owner. Story goes it is a complete car that the owner hadn't paid for storage fees and he was awaiting the ownership before selling on. Thinking i was in for a deal i went for a look at the potential find.

From the VIN it looks to be a 1979 Auto, nearly 89k miles, interior ruinous, same with the paint. Plate sticker from '08.
Unfortunately for me it will remain lost as it looks a real money pit. Glad it isnt black and standard shifter or i may have made a huge mistake.

Am i right in thinking a pre '80 canadian car could have a speedometer in miles???One of the codes suggested it could be Californian.

Thanks for reading. Kind regards.

A22.01
C03 California
M027 Version for California
M126 Stickers in French (this is very strange option in California car so it probably means something else in this context)

M484 Symbols for controls

Maybe raround 1977 or so.

Options are also dependent on what the factory decided they showcase a car....for example
in California as AC option for sure may be a standard feature..hence the code M027

I am not an expert but

IU am not sure but it may make sense

The codes i got were just above the the VIN in the door jam. 027 92 with G8 below but they could be for something entirely different for all i know as 92 and G8 makes no sense. 027 suggest Californian. Car #00822 suggests its not that early. Non sunroof, has AC, half leather, black with cloth striped inserts.
I liked the 928 stamp in the trim

All 928's have that stamp in the trim. One of only a very few places that say "928" on the cars

That code on the door Jamb sounds like a paint code. Not a bad looking car, and factory red proves very durable and restorable.

We didnt talk numbers but for a car in such a sorry state i doubt it would be much.

The paint was lifting at the window seems, bare metal was visible in a few small areas. Dash cracks everywhere, damp carpets. That's all without being able to open the hood as the mechanism was broke. Very sad to see. The only good parts i saw were the brake pads were near new and the in packet genuine porsche wiper washers in the photo by the shifter. Looks like it was sat outside for many years

The problem here in Canada is anytime it says Porsche the bone yards think it is made of gold I'm sure the price wont be cheap. So it will sit untill it is to far gone for anyone to save. Or some well thinking person with more money than brains will think I can get a cheap Porsche and will get frusterated trying to get it on the road. I just hope someone decent gets it and brings it back to life.....

My '78 reads in KPH. In order to bring it to the states, the importer wanted to change out the speedo head. I refused, so they instead added little stickers to the cover plastic.
