It looks like starting the bolts are the issues. Probably just paint gummed up in there, but these things were a PITA to remove. It was almost as if the PO's stupid *** mechanic RTV'ed the screws in there. I'm going to drop a little bit of pipe cutting oil in the holes and drive the screws in after taping the top threads. Hopefully it bites and the oil helps thread the screws in real nice.

Those little brackets are in. The champagne color I painted them really makes the cover stand out. Too bad I won't be able to see them once the wires are in.

Don't worry, you won't be able to see the cam covers either

Thanks! I gave your idea a try but the one sticking out did not want to spin. I don't want to shred the seals, so I will just live with it the way it is.

Oh! A while back, I saw that you assisted someone with ignition wire placement. Using the search, I couldn't find which wires get routed behind the the timing covers to their corresponding cylinders. Do you remember which ones they are? Is it wires 5,6, and 7 for the driver side and 1,2, and 3 for the passenger side?

Have you taken any reference pictures before and during teardown?

I have but not of the ignition wire positions. I think I found the answer to my question googling a picture up of the motor.

1) Plug wires #4 and #8 are positioned around the outside of the timing covers

2) #2 and #3 along with #6 and #7 run acroos the motor and behind the timing covers

3) #1 and #5 go behind the timing cover on a 3 wire separator with the wires respectfully above.

Looking good.

My last intake refresh, I snapped a few of those socket-headed bolts trying to remove the brackets (with the covers already off the car).

Luckily the factory provides the bosses on both ends, so I had the covers PC'ed, and then just turned the covers around and drilled/tapped the other bosses

Just when almost everything is in, you find your lower radiator hose split!

I don't know how I missed that when taking it off, but now I have to wait till next week when a new hose comes in. Bummer..

I schedule replacement of ALL the coolant hoses coincident to the TB job. I think I mentioned this somewhere previously. If one hose is split, it's quite likely the others are ready to give up too. That bottom hose is pretty much the coldest one in the system, so the others aren't far behind.

The bottom one is the only one that hasn't been replaced.
