Default Yet another wheel offset question...

87 S4 (I've searched-and used the AO calculator) but get conflicting reports.

Would these fit (and would a spacer be needed)? The rear fenders are rolled.

Rims Size: 18 X 8.5" fronts / 18 X 9.5" rears

Bolt Pattern: 5 X 130

Offset: 45 mm front & 45 mm rear

Thanks in advance,

Michael

It ain't the wheels that touch, it's the tires.

Lots of variables like tire width which is stated as the widest part of the bulge of the sidewall NOT TREAD WIDTH plus they can mount the tire to what ever rim width they choose to use when they measure. Plus "fit" is a very subjective term with how you drive, how low the car is, how big the bumps, if you turn the wheels lock to lock, steep driveways....no absolutes here.
Perhaps the best starting point for you is what wheels, offsets, tire sizes are you running NOW and simply measure how that would change ....It is pretty simple

Well the AO Calculator says 45 won't work up front but other threads say it will...

What is current setup? Its easy to calculate how much it changes when both are known. In any case ET45 is too small at front I think. '89 GT 8" ET60 is sort of factory minimum which is good baseline on how far is really safe. Some people are willing to go 10, 12, maybe even 15mm further out but those setups start to require narrower than ideal tire width. 8.5" ET45 is over 21mm further out than 8" ET60. Maybe it barely works with '91 MY rolled fenders, max. 225 wide tires, as high as adjustment allows camber setting and ride height set to factory recommendation but its huge compromise. For 8.5" I wouldn't go below ET56.

It will work, but your 928 will look like one of those low riders with the wheels / tires sticking too far out.

I have some Mille Miglia Cup II replica fronts that are 8.5" ET52. They stick out noticeably past the front fender well and I do not use them because of this. At an ET of 45, that would put the proposed another 7mm further out. I wouldn't do it.

There is a guy in our local PCA with what must be ET40 wheels on the front of his 16V. He jacked up the suspension all around to make it work. It looks like a kit car...... Other than this it's a really nice car. Shame really.....since they are not even very nice wheels.
