There is an excellent write-up about the timing belt change procedure with pictures that is on the 928 International web site under one of the links. I just printed it out and used it as a checklist to do mine. There are 175 steps in the procedure.

I have read it-very good!
The reason I was looking for the John Kelly manual, was because it was geared towards 85/86's
I was researching the "remove front of engine step" for my future Porken install, and I wanted to read a guide specifically for 85/86's
I thought I read somewhere that the power steering/alternator cradle did not have to be removed to access the driver's side belt cover on the 85/86's.

I was looking for any other steps specific to my year.

If the John Kelly manual is no longer for sale, would anyone be willing to loan?

If it is no longer for sale, would the author be against, scanning and posting?

I don't see an email for him under his profile.

Maybe he can do an email version for less $$$-save the trees!

I purchased a copy within the last year, seemed like he was still selling more. If you can't find more info, I am sure I have his eBay contact info. I can PM that to you.
If not, I would be happy to loan you my copy.

Regarding the lower timing cover, I left my power steering/alternator bracket attached. I used two longer bolts and slid it out far enough to remove the cover.
I can send a pic if you like. It's still apart......

Worth every penny, it's a great guide. Only thing not in there is the process to use Ken's 32VR cam timing tool, which I think is an absolutely essential final step on a belt change ...

Just did all that on my '85 32v and installed new WP, belt and PKtensioner. I took off the alternator/PS pump and the mounting cradle, because I had to change the front and back covers because of fire damage. The two metal covers at the heads come off easily but I'm pretty sure IIRC that you have to remove the alt/ps cradle to get at the center, plastic cover. Not difficult at any rate, and it makes it easier to clean out all the crap that's probably back there (! in my case) and fix the wire to the oil level sensor
