Wasn't looking down at the time... but I do recall seeing near 130 at one point. I think the speedo is off, though, because I'm running 18s. Not sure what the calculation is to correct for the difference.

Maybe put in a WBO2 to see what AFRs you are running at speed? Somewhat lean = hotter.

SharkTuner/Spanner/Hammer/Theo to see if the knock sensors/cam sensor are good? Retard = hotter.

With the stock LH chip/19's my '88 5-speed was leanish all the way up to 5500.

Also, not sure if it would help on the track, but on the dyno, I unplug the rad sensor to keep both fans running full speed at all times.

Great idea, especially since I intend to eventually turbocharge the car. It currently has the base sharktuned chip in it.

Nice video. Thanks.

Just remember on that left hander at the top of the hill before Oak Tree - IF you ever drop two wheels off on the outside, just GO STRAIGHT and SLOW DOWN with the two wheels off. That corner has bitten a LOT of cars hard when they try to recover, spin and go off at high speed into the tire wall on the left side of the track (in the valley). A friend did about $45K worth of damage to his '07 GT3 there in about 2-3 seconds!

Goal speed approaching that corner can be about 90+ mph in a stock 928 with high performance street tires.

VIR is a GREAT track for a 928.

Thanks! That turn drove me nuts on my first two runs before I realized it's actually a much faster turn than I was taking. I assume you saw the Oak Tree spin... (the preview screen somehow happens to be the point at which I'm half on-half off the track!)

Mike,

IF you are running 295 30 18's, the speedo is probably about 2% slow (e.g. 100 indicated is ~102 mph).

I believe those are 265/35/18s back there; 225/40/18s up front. I think Andrew's wheel calculator will actually tell you how much the speedo will be off. I'll check it out.

Looks like the different size tires and wheels will cause at most a 2% variation. So, if I hit 130, it was about 132.6 or so.

But... The speedo isn't 100% accurate to start with.

I figure mine reads 3-5% high across the board.

With that stated, and just to brag, I've touched 150 mph indicated on the track. Needed a tail wind and would only look for a split second. People ask "how fast have you gone" and I often add "and then it's time to turn."

haha here in South Florida they told me over the phone they do not tech the car for Homestead raceway...they will look at tire wear and disk brake wear visually but that is it. You will need a helmet which I have (my Ducati helmet)...day 1 there is a teacher in the car with you, day 2 you are on your own...

$300 dollars for the weekend...

twice a month..

I might have missed something but sounds too easy...

I would be afraid of an event that does not have a more serious tech inspection! Not necessarily for my own car, but for what others have brought. Small leaks can turn into big wrecks.

Plus auto-solo on day 2?! Wow, just wow. My main interest in doing DEs is not to turn laps, but to learn how to turn better laps, and be a better driver in general. Sure it's fun to go fast, but this sounds reckless. Be safe out there man!

Courtshark, you see due to my 15 years riding and tracking my 450lbs Ducati, driving my 4000 pound 928s$ will be EASY...no sweat nothing new to learn, I just lean her nice and easy into the turns and wheelie on the way out...HAHAHA

Ah, I see. No problems then!

Seriously man... keep your eyes open out there. I'm not sure what kind of crowd they draw but I hope they firmly believe in the honor system and respect everyone enough to not bring a dripbucket heap to the track.

Very cool. I do track days on my motorcycle and it is a total blast. Glad you enjoyed it. I plan on getting mine out there once I get it sorted.
