Default 928 motorsports adjustable fuel regulator?

Ok guys I purchased this reg 2nd hand, I have an 87s4 I want to use it on... After just looking over the 928motorsports site I see there are two different versions, one for 85-86 and one for 87-95. However it doesn't state which is which just a pic of both. Can anyone tell me if I have the correct one? If not what are the actual differences, can I make this work?? Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Ya...gonna be a painful thread for you.

Wasting your time with the FPR, and the chips.

There is PLENTY of overhead in the system to manage what you are throwing at it, and then some.

You want a sharktuner...or someone nearby WITH one.

Hmm.. From what I have read this is a great way to increase the fuel ratio once upgrades have been made. Agreed a shark tuner would be Great! But unfortunately not an option currently. I was just asking if I have the correct one for my year 928, not wanting to argue the validity of the unit. I paid roughly $60 for this and they sell for $349 so I figure I received a good deal.

Thanks

You didnt read that here.

If a ST, or access to one isnt in the cards now, do your mods, and wait it out.

If you do EVERYTHING possible, its HP you wont feel, more yes, but not worth going backwards with your current plan.

That's the correct one for '87. (That web page has been wrong for a loooonng time.)

'88-up have a fully threaded outlet for a steel tube connection.

That may help for now if you are running lean.

If you later get (my) chips or SharkTune, you'll want to go back to the stock FPR (with 24# inj).

Much less hassle/headache with a fixed regulator.

Ditch that thing, it will cause you nothing but issues. Get rid of those crap AA chips also, nothing like adding more fuel to an already over fueled car. Nothing you've added to the car will give you a need to add even more fuel.

At the pressure point that the stock regulators "regulate" fuel pressure down to, doesn't any increase after that (on stock injectors) just improve atomization, rather than the volume of fuel that can be delivered?

I tell ya, if Porken had an S4 years ago we might not have the ST, sure would have made things easier on those of us who want plug and play

If you do plan on more upgrades such as cams/boost then you will want to get an ST or have close access to one. It's also fun to just plug in and watch what your car is doing from time to time.

Agreed...And I DO intend to boost, hell maybe I should just buy an ST.. Last I checked they were roughly $1000 correct?
