He sent me list of repairs that were done. I have asked for a contact number several times in the past couple of hours and I have only gotten emails but no number. That concerns me.
I'm hoping someone in the area could hook me up with a solid place for a PPI.

Thanks for all the info Greg and Tom.M
Greg I do have 100 mile towing via Triple A maybe a tow to your shop would not be that bad if I could pull it off being here in Richmond VA

I'm always concerned when I see something for sale, after a big repair, especially since the owner was "fixing" up his all time "dream car". Especially concerned when the price is this low....this is a fantastic price. My ONLY concern would be about the powder coating and if all the media got removed from the intake manifold. Failure to do this, turns these engines into absolute scrap metal. A spark plug removal and leakdown should tell if there was a "potential problem" regarding that process.

Other than that disaster happening, everything else is moot. Even if there is 5K worth of other small crap wrong (typical for any 928, it seems)....who cares? It's still a steal!

I wish there was someone in San Diego that knew these cars well enough to tell you everything you need to know and know what to "look" for. The shops down there are pretty much "lawn mower" repair guys....not 928 guys. I'm about 120 miles away, which is pretty far, for a pre-purchase inspection.

He said the oil consumption was the normal consumption that the cars have without adding your fix. He said the last compression test he did was in the 180s and that he would do another one for me if I wanted.
I said yes and to take photos of the test and of the pulled plugs.

I offered this as possible solution:

"If you have triple A and would be willing to send it to Greg Brown in Anaheim for a PPI that would be great. I have 100 towing on my triple A, but I think I have to be there.

Or I could buy a one year triple A for you and then you could use that to have it towed to Greg for PPI I would pay the difference past 100 miles.

If Greg gives it a thumbs up, I would buy the vehicle. I would also consider having Greg put the his system on it (need a price) to reduce the oil consumption.
I could then have it shipped from Greg's to me

I think you now own a 93.

If I had the money, that car would be in my garage. Saw it somewhere online.

If the bores are wrecked, you could still get it sleeved and have a matching-numbers 5-speed GTS.

Cool sounding history on the car.

I don't think you can jump to the AAA premium towing. I thought about it a few times, but decided to do it after having some trouble with our Lincoln and they told me I had to wait a year after the last tow before I could upgrade.

Well I had to back out. Wife who is easy going flipped on me when saw the rebuild engine post and where it was located. I started taking heat rounds. The car was not being held for me no deposit or anything. the seller seems like a really nice person.
Maybe if we were closer I could take her for a ride and she would change her mind.
Anyway someone will get their dream.
