84 928s Transmission Leaks?
Given the fact - no car is every 100% all the time.....
I noticed a transmission leak....wanted to get your input on how to fix?

Welcome back to 928 ownership! Pretty darn clean looking tranny... makes it easy to spot the drips. My 84 has been leaking at the torque converter (latter part of the vid) for quite a while. I think the mounts, motor and tranny, sag over time and things get misaligned and start to leak. Nothing a solid weekend or 2 of wrenching won't fix, just a matter of how much you want to tackle at once.
I'd drive the **** out of it for a couple weeks and get it to spring all the leaks it's gonna, then do some work.

As you discovered from the post on Theo's site, fixing the front pump leak will require a bit of work. Since pulling the trans to fix the primary pump leak is such a big job you might consider replacing the reverse clutch discs (a known weak point) and steels as well as the B1 band along with all the other "exterior" o-rings (B1 band safety switch, governor cover plate, B1 and B2 piston covers, etc.) and investigate whether the B2 piston upgrade has been done. If those two o-rings are leaking how many more are ready to start? Much easier to do all yo can with the trans out of the car with easy access. It goes without saying this is the time to install new TQ bearings.
I'm pretty sure rebuilding the secondary pump that seems to be the source of the leak at the rear of the box can be done with the trans in situ.

Can you please provide the number stamped beneath the transmission. Also VIN number for car?
I thought I was familiar with 84/5/6 4 speed auto fill arrangements, yours is different from what I expected.

I dropped my trans and TT by myself in my garage by putting the car up on four large stands. I also bought a low rise transmission jack from Harbor Freight. You can fabricate the tools needed to disassemble the primary pump from hardware store items. Not to bad a job if you take your time,. It's just time consuming. This is one of those jobs that presents a window of opportunity to address a number of known failure points/long term maintenance issues. I took the time to hit everything I could think of while it was apart.
On the bright side, as long as you keep the fluid level up you can keep driving it while you plan.

I had a leak from the same place on the front of my transmission, but the leaking seal wasn't the main one shown on the linked site that everyone first assumed it was--it ended up being the oil seal behind it, which required opening up the transmission. I think the PO took the trans out and replaced the main seal thinking that was the problem, because that seal looked brand new when I saw it. Just make sure you've diagnosed it correctly, because I wouldn't want you to go through all of that work and then still have it leaking when you button everything back up!

Yes ....minor leak...I keep an close eye on it...to fix the transmission it needs to be dropped....
I am debating on getting it rebuilt
Still has a hard shift...but that could be a vacuum issue...still searching on how trouble shoot and fix.

to test for vacuum.
disconnect the line at the vacuum modulator,
connect the mytivac to it,
start the car,
if no vacuum then the hose is broken on its run to the intake manifold.
there is a hard line thats from just behind the front bell housing to the just infront of the rear bell housing,
then rubber hose is used on either end of the metal hard line
