88, 928s4 - Sparco seat fit...?
Hello,
Has anyone successfully put in and replaced the stock seats for Sparco seats with the Sparco seat track...? Will it fit and work smoothly...?
Thanks, my driver seat ripped from age and I do dont really care for power seats anyway, the sparco seats are sportier so I do like them...
I appreciate any feedback regarding my question...
thank you,
Sniper

Which Corbeau's do you have? Was there any difference in the seat height from your factory seats? I'm only 5'9" on a good day & the factory seats, even as low as they go, still have my helmet hitting the roof when I'm DE'ing. I'm wanting just to get the basic Forza model to put in for when I DE. I'd think they'd sit lower, but have hesitated at the thought of "what if I put those in & the seat sits just as high or higher than the factory ones?"

I am in the middle of swapping seats. I had also planned on putting in Corbeau Forzas for DE events, with the goal of increased head room ( and more lateral support of course), then taking them out for daily driving, so comfort was not my #1 concern. But, I found I could not get Forzas in both wide and micro-suede, and I wanted both features. Upon recommendation from the dealer, I went with the Corbeau A4, and had 1" shaved off the base. This allowed me both micro-suede and wide. It also opened up the possiblity of leaving them in for DD duties.
Do they work? Dunno, they just arrived Monday and are sitting in my garage awaiting install.
I will post a review and pictures when they are installed, hopefully by this weekend.
BTW-I am 6’5”

Putting an aftermarket seat in will gain you some headroom. A friend used to have an 88 S4 that he tracked and he had a Sparco Evo 2 in the drivers side. He gained headroom. He's 6'2".

the 928 body is quite generous in "seat space"..... Our "stock" seats aren't exactly small either...
In my race 928's I have ran LOTS of different seats.....EVERYTHING fits.....even HUGE Kirkey seats designed to fit Yeti sized Canadians...

The seats I bought are model A4 in black cloth - I don't know how much headroom you will gain - they definitely don't sit any higher, but I don't think they sit much lower either. I'm 6', my car has a sunroof, and there still is not much extra room - I have not had my car on the track since putting in these seats, nor sat in it with my helmet on, so I can't be of much scientific help. The corbeaus aren't bad, but they aren't the quality of Sparco (I don't think) and definetely not Recaro, but they are a decent compromise for the price. I paid $320 for the seat and $90 for the mounting bracket. 1 Recaro was going to cost $800 for a seat that adjusted fore/aft and the backrest reclined.

As I understand it ( I have not examined them, still in box) they shave it off the base of the seat. See options (Shave Seat Base) here:

6'6" here. I've put a few different seats in my '88 S4 in my effort to get more headroom and the roomiest by far was this old Sparco fixed back seat. I gained approx 1-1/4" of headroom, netting me about 2-1/4" clearance (without a helmet on). They worked great, were surprisingly comfy, but were a pain in the neck for daily use as getting in and out was a chore.
In this setup I purchased the standard base and sliders, I believe they are the same ones that fit 911's of that same vintage.
Here are some rough measurements I took:
I also tried manual adjusting 944 seats and was surprised that they did not increase headroom enough to warrant using them.
Same with the Sparco R100 seat that I tried, not a significant improvement, although I did not cut the foam which I'm sure would have helped.
