I have never figured out how to post links to other threads so if someone can post the 6 speed conversion thread that would be great.

I thought about doing this to my s3 but as i was asking around for info i end up talking to Greg Nettles on the phone and his advise was its not worth the time and effort especially if you dont know anything about the donnor car.
He said sell it and by a manual.
Glad i listen to him.

BTW great guy after talking to him for about 10 min he give me his cell number and told me to call him when ever i need it anything day or night.

In any case, what's missing from this $2500 pile of parts is a serviceable 5-speed transmission. Seems like an awful lot of money when you could start with a 5-speed car....

agreed. I have seen "kits" sell on here for 1k though. I happoen to have 2 auto cars. I wish the euro were a 5 spd, problem solved. I am not going to find another Euro around here for cheap. From what I understand the euro car has abs which is kind of cool. I think I am going to see if I can do one of those corvetter 6 spd deals. That sounds wicked cool.

are there any other advantages to the euro car? I mean other than engine? once I swap out the motor for something else, will the euro be any different than another 928? I mean suspension wise and such?

I tried asking people before and got only mockery for response. If there really arent any other differences besides engine, and the car being in german (which is cool), then I would be fine with using a different car. I am not going to go out and pay a lot for one. If I have to use this Euro, then I will part out the motor, sell the transmission, and then that will help offset the cost partially of a new vette 6 spd.

After owning and driving an Auto Trans for a bit now, it does have its advantages over a 5 speed, especally in traffic and speed of shifting.
I would not do a Auto to Manual conversion and agree w/ others, way too much work.
However I'm am looking into this option for my Auto.

Has anyone else BTDT ?

Yes it's safe to be manually shifting the auto box.

I've converted two cars. A suggestion is to just use a floor mount clutch pedal with factory slave. The stock system is a bitch to bleed and get right. Top that off, if your clutch master bracket isn't added just right it will chew through masters at an alarming rate.

Other than that it all just bolts right in. Also, get the dual disc, it's a much nicer setup!
