Default Cruise Control Retrofit - 84 S2 Auto

Hi there,

I am thinking of having the factory cruise control retrofitted to my 84' S2 Auto.

Is the wiring loom already adapted to the Cruise control?

I take it I need the following:

-Cruise motor with cable
-ECU
-Relay
-Stalk

Does it use the same switch on the brake pedal as the brake light?

Anything else I need?

Yep, I've done this to an 83s Australian car. Wiring loom is all there. Your list is just about right. I didn't have to add relay (although you may as mine is a CIS car). With Vacuum servo unit cable there is also little bracket that screws to throttle linkage. Plus some vacuum hose and a T junction to connect to vacuum reservoir.

Thanks for your feedback.
Actually you might be right about the Relay part, did not find one in the chart. It was an assumtion from my side as the seem to use Relays for everything on the 928...

Just a quick question, where is the Cruise Control ECU located on the 84?

It's built into the motor.

The cruise brain should be behind the center console

Do you have a pic of the location, how its mounted. Doing a retrofit, and want it 100% OE.

Go to post 25 of the linked thread,
then look at the 3rd picture ,
you will see the sunroof and right window connectors (the colored ones) look at the the bracket for the parcel tray,

the CC computer goes forward and behind the bracket ,
and under the heater box ,
thats where you will find the computer connector.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I wondered how easy the retrofit was? I'm looking into a European '84 928S without cruise control, and would like to be able to retrofit. Is it really just a matter of installing the right parts in the right location and done?

Hi
I'm getting closer to actually getting my car, and I had a few more questions about this retrofit.
Are the parts different for the different model years? Mine is a 84 EURO 928S with twin distributors. Anyone have a list of the part numbers?
An ebay search did not make me much wiser. I do see different types of parts for the S4 engine, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer on this..

Any help would be appreciated!

I also wondered, would it be possible to install the later electric cruise control motor instead of the vacuum one?
