to much vac can cause the oil "mist" to not reach the wrist pins and cause issues. but that is ALOT of vac. some engine builders have noticed Oil Pressure fluctuations at higher Vac as well, but not everyone has been able to duplicate that.

for giggles i took the scrubber out, and saw no real differance in vacuum readings. a little lower, but not much. now to see how oil ingestion goes. the filler neck i have is pretty tall, so oil has a chance to fall out of suspension.

also i pulled a plug of one of the "bad" cylinders and little to no oil, hell it could have been fuel from shut off.

For those wondering this is what I have done to my car. Oil consumption will go way down. But just be 100% sure that you do NOT exceed 15" Hg vacuum in the crankcase, without doing some serious mods to the motor.
interesting update.....I also agree with the "some is good, too much is BAD" in terms of vacuum... It is possible for dry sump systems to pull too much vacuum, which reduces oil splash lubrication to the point that wrist pins dry out and start to fail....

Brian, 12' Hg vacuum is peak performance, the closer you can get to that, the better. Above 15" Hg you MUST oil the wrist pins.

BTW I sent you a msg on facetube,

More road time today. Still ave a slight, ever so slight, smoke from lights after a good time idling. Low vac at that point so the blow by takes over. Works fantastic off idle when cold and warm (oil that is)

To get a true view of how much smome you are making. Someone else should drive it and you need to be in a car behind it. Of it looks bad from the rearview mirror, it will look even worse from behind.

Given how low miles you have on the motor, it is possible that your rings just haven't seated enough.
Although if you want to pull the headers or intake off you can look with a scope and will be able to tell if the valve stem seals are leaking.

up date: added a GZ motorsports vaccume pump ala'Colin style. filler neck to pump, pump to provent inlet. provent outlet has a filter on it and the return line goes to the drivers cam tower for oil return/fresh air for the crank case.

if the car idles for a while (3 plus min) i get smoke on take off. then nothing at all while driving, hard or at all. idle vac is around 1.5hg.. tops out at 12ish HG at max revs.. hovers around 9-10 whilst driving about.

i have yet to get any serious miles on it (daddy duty, no free time as of yet, etc) but now that the weather is nicer i plan on doing a few long road trips to rack up some seat time and see if the rings can/will/wont seat.

only issue i have is the filler on the prevent (outlet side) like to puff out oil vapor at times... i think the vac pump might be moving more air/oil vapor than the provent can handle.... hummm.

runs great.!
