Have a look at post 15 and the black line is my car and it is what you would call a euro hybrid. I know it isn't 4.6 seconds (it is 5.3) but I think there was more in that car before it got taken off the road. Some facts and speculation.

There was no roll out used in timing my car, apparently US testers tend to do this, that car was always difficult to get off the line without wheel hop. Something I wanted to fix at the time, the only way to alleviate it was to use less power in first and second which of course affects the 0-60 time. I think if a launch control/traction control was fitted along the lines of what John Gill sells and the mechanical setup was sorted so that the car didnt get wheel hop you would be able to do consistent sub 5 second 0-60 mph times.

To back that up, when I compared my euro hybrid times to the second series 997 GT3RS my car was faster from 50 - 100 mph by about 0.2 of a second, now that will probably be down to gear changes required in that speed range giving me the advantage but I will take it. The area where my car fell down was that it was a full second slower to 60 mph again due to traction issues. Maybe sorting the wheel hop and having a launch control puts you at 4.6 seconds?

The difference between 5.3sec and 4.6sec is another 50hp. There isn't enough left in that hybrid setup to pull that off.

I believe it is an optimization issue, more power in my car will just make traction off the line worse. It is a matter of using what power that is there already, as I said I can't use full throttle in first gear, there untapped power there.

Three points of consideration for the Euro hybrid;

Stock Euro Cam vs hot rod reweld.
Stock brains vs fully sharktuned or Porkenized.
Stock 5.0L vs punching the bore out to 104mm.

Traction and shifting may still be the bigger issue, and harder to fix. OTOH starting in second might have a better time than starting in first. Its not a big point to me, I don't plan to drag race, so really anything in the same ball park of performance may be equally satisfying.

What I got from the article was here are the hot cars, some more HP, some less and smaller, and this is the sweet spot. The car you want to drive most of the time, and 30 years later the core hasn't changed much.

is that rwhp or flywheel?

Its never clear to me, but I think all new car specs are flywheel.

When I am talking its usually rwhp, a stock Euro hybrid is around 285 to 290 rwhp.

Used to be worse, new cars were rated at some imaginary no parasitic accessory loss crank hp.

You are starting to backpadle here. A Euro hybrid is a 5L shortblock with a stock Euro top bolted to it, running a stock injection system, stock intake system and that's it. This combination will never get the performance numbers you've originally claimed. Blaming it on traction is bench racing at best. I get wheel hop too but so does many other modified 928s but that's not an excuse to claim that the car would be faster or not. It is what it is, show me the slip or keep on dreamin'.
