Default VIN plate on early cars

Should be riveted next to the hood latch right on the front of the body

Wish they had done this on all model years....

Thats requirement in many European countries and was in all MY's done for those markets. They weren't put in Japanise and some other non European ROW cars. When such car is imported to certain countries owner must find it from somewhere and factory will not help in any way.

But that is not actual official place where VIN is checked from. It needs to be stamped directly into body to prevent theft. As I mentioned before its out of sight at side of the engine bay in early MY cars. Some owners have never seen that stamping but it must be there for car to be legitimate in many countries.
