Most of the cars we buy have been on the open market and the owners have been unable to find a buyer. Today's purchase would be a $3k car once you spent $4k to fix it. Just the sad reality. Tomorrow I may buy a 1985 at for about $1k. The paint, interior and trans are all shot plus it has hIgh miles. To me it's a pile of cores I could use for rebuilding purposes.
