Default MAF whistle??

Ive had a bad , what seems to be MAF whistle, for along time now. im thinking it could be a vaccum leak for one of the connections coming from the throttle body.

has anyone heard this before? only at part throttle, but not at WOT or idle.

Mk

Never heard it..but there is a small hole from the circuit board area into the hot wire area that could be causing it. Make sure the black cover for the electronics on the side of the MAF is sealed tight (maybe a little silicone on the edge).

I had an issue when I was boosted and running around up here in the wet PacNW...seems it would push moisture into the electronics under boost and eventually corrode the PCB..

Its a vac leak of some sort.

Put a pressure tester on the MAF boot, pump it up...find it.

good idea. dont think its on the MAF side, because if it was , it would sound itself under idle too. but it sure sounds like it. in fact, it sounds like its just the air flow through the MAF that is whistling. ive had vacuum lines disconected before, they dont make noise. the behind the throttle place vacuum goes down with throttle, there is no noise on decel, but on acel, only part, it whistles very loud, not full throttle and not at idle. very odd . like something is forming a whistle in the MAF.

Maybe related to the o-rings that pass oil through to the TPS?
I'm getting a whistle after closing throttle, hearing ISV/they all do that.

If your car has a whistling noise it has an air/vacuum leak somewhere. There are LOTS of places where it could be coming from and the only sure way isolate them all and make sure it's fixed is this one...

This whistling sound is typically from the flappy bearing o-ring.

I am going to run down this whistling noise on mine (at idle) using the MAF test. As usual, see Dwayne's excellent write up for deets:
http://dwaynesgarage.norcal928.org/1...%20Refresh.htm

Mine runs ok but I do detect a slight roughness at idle that I want to eliminate if possible.
