Slow owners...? Really? My shark is as fast as any on the road with the exception of SC's & Turbos.. Slow it is not! Still, a drag car it is not & never will be... I'm sure I can pull those #s as well but the point is high 13s is NOT fast anymore... Supercharged ricers want to line up with me at a light all the time... I just smile & let them go screaming off. If there arent any prizes or more importantly trophy girls at the next light then what is the point besides being an ***...

Anyone who thinks he can out accelerate a 600 pound bike with a 3,500 pound car is going to have his *** handed to him ...

You may beat the biker on top end, but you're going to lose the drag race every single time.

The two of you have no idea what you are talking about. Could have should have.......go get the slip and then we can talk. 75mph and up is hardly considered top end.

I've ridden pretty much every kind of bike there is and this includes a couple of Harleys too. They are painfully slow at any speed. When my 928 was stock, a ZX6 wasn't able to pull on me on the highway. When the SC went on, a buddy of mine wanted to see how it would do against his R1. With the Yamaha, we went from a rolling start (25mph) and he was next to me, with his front wheel up, him leaning on the tank to keep the front wheel down, and he didn't start to pull till he shifted into 3rd.

And for the comment that 928 are not built to drag race, only slow owners say that. I've pulled a dozen high 13 sec runs when the car was 100%stock....right down to the spare tire and stock rims.
I've been building Hog motors longer than most of you guys have been alive.

FWIW, The twin cam JD's were the fastest Harleys ever produced by Harley Davidson. The factory offered to" dealers only" that perticipated in AMA sanctioned racing, 88 cubic inch long stroke flywheels. You need starting rollers to fire the engine. About 28 years ago, Lance Tidwell, ( original member of the Booze Fighters) gave me a set of OEM 88 inch wheels. The Booze Fighters were the original outlaw club. A few of the JD's were fitted with these wheels, and high lift cams, and the factory gave these bikes the "H" designation, the "H" stands for competion HOT. A JDH weighs less than 340 lbs. Mine puts out over 132 HP. These bikes were so fast and powerful that Walter Davidson sent a memo to all the dealers, that all JD, and JDH parts were to be returned to the factory, after Hank Ross's JDH beat the new Sportster in 57 at the Big Bear Hill Climb. The factory destroyed all the spare engines, cams, and tooling.

As a side note, in 1928 Harley built 3 prototype V 4's with shaftdrive. 2, 80 inchers and 1 90 incher. They were built like 2 flathead 80's in side by side cases. The 90 incher had tricked out JDH half overhead sidevalve heads. Twice the power, and twice the sound. Legend has it that it could out run the 36 EL Knucklehead, in 2nd gear, then the world record motorcycle speed holder. And also the unoffical world record Brough Superior SS 100, ( unoffical record at Daytona Beach 1936 one way run, 186MPH. The rider was killed on the return run.)

Just cause it's old, don't make it slow. These are facts that can be verified.

2 guys racing side by side one night down my street. Car coming the other way. Mustang saved a head-on collision by going off the road. Wrapped the Stang around a 3 ft maple like foil wrap. Rear end went one way on one side. Front end went the other side. Center of the body stayed wrapped around the driver and tree. There is still a white cross at that tree across the street, where his Mother stops to visit. I dont ever want to have to call in another one like that. Porsches are targets. You are driving the target. It makes them feel good to stay in front of you. So let them feel good. They'll post in the Rice Burner Forum that they blew your doors off.
.........But you know different.

I swear that the throttle pedal in every Porsche that I drive is connected to the engines in all the cars around me on the road.

If I twitch on the loud pedal, everybody else speeds up.

I suspect many of us have street raced over the years. Unfortunately, today, traffic is more heavy than in the distant past, many cars are higher performance than in the past, more drivers than ever are either mediocre or distracted by texting or having a cell phone glued to their ears, and many of them are just POOR drivers. Couple that with a couple of high performance cars running 100+mph on residential streets and bad stuff happens. We have a street racing problem in Houston. There are a couple of fatalities most weeks, often a single car wrapped around a tree and the other car long gone. Often a new Mustang or Camaro or Vette, an occasional Ferrari or MB, and frequently a rice rocket…..I have learned over time just to let the fool in the other lane do what they like, had one jump out recently with a bunch of tire smoke, just to discover a speed trap in the following block. Felt really good to drive by slowly while the red and blue lights played over the bright yellow Camaro…..by the way, there are not many Porsches wrecked in these street races around here.....

I always feel guilty about how much gas I am wasting in the cars around me. I don't think you even need to twitch the pedel or do anything. They floor it either way.

Street racing is not wise and the 928 is not a drag car. There are bikes that are very fast and cheaper than a Harley. I have owned a few bikes, street and dirt. People for some reason hate motor cycles and always try to pass you. I try and stay clear of them. There is a good movie out called Worlds fastest Indian, great movie.

It seems that meeting a 928 at a stoplight turns some 'normal drivers' into "Roger Ram-Jets". A home boy in a Honda ricer pulls up next to me and goes "REEEEEEEEE" (sounds like he has a chainsaw in it). I can't resist and go "WOO-GAAAA". Light goes green, and 'ricer' stomps it. All he goes is burn rubber. I roll off easy to 20mph then hit it to 4Krpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd, then back off. Hammer down to the speed limit (55 MPH).My ECM is beeping as ricer goes past me turning about 25,000rpm. 3/4 mile down the road HE'S PULLED OVER FEEDING the BEARS. Make 'em push hard to get past me and then let 'em go and take out the radar. It happens ALL THE TIME!! I even got challenged by a guy in a Courier-Post delivery van!! Made him work hard to blow me off then called 1-800-MyDrivingSucks. He's probably delivering papers on a bicycle now!!!

My son and I were driving in a 3 day charity rally this summer in his red 86 944. He got some very good experience driving around idiots who just had to race the stickered up Porsche. We never took the bait. We even had some grandpa with his little granddaughter in a Pontiac that refused to let us pass. On a 55mph road in northern AL he would drop down to 40 and wobble all over the road to keep us from passing. When a clear stretch of road would come up we would try to pass him, but the idiot would run 90+ just to keep us behind him and then slow back down to 40. And the best part was he gave us the finger when he finally turned off. I told my son he probably had a bad time in Europe during WWII.
