Styling so ahead of its time
Came across this pic on the web that impressed me at how thoroughly modern the 928 shape continues to be...what a car!

While still looking thoroughly modern, I find the design has begun to show some age, since designers have been allowed to go a little crazy with all the organic curves and geometric shapes. Probably the biggest sign of age on the 928 (to me) are the headlights. They just look a little plain and undefined.
On another note, doesn't this rear end look a bit familiar - specifically the tail lights?

Does this mean you're going to keep it? and I agree with your post.

Todays trend of christmas style led strings on audi's, porsches, and others already look tacky and cheesy. The plasticky encased groupings on the 360/430/corvette look amateurish. Nope the 928 headlights are like the rest of the design, unique and timeless. Best car Porsche ever put on the road, everything considered.
Does anyone know the wheels, they are similar to Chucks but don't seem to have the twist?

The wheels look like some old school Anteras. Would have to dig up an old catalog to find the specific model. The headlights are such a defining feature of the car - gotta keep those! I understand there's legislation against pop up headlights now? Too bad for the 928 successor (which really isn't, if it's a scaled down Panamera)...

Timeless for sure. I like the 928 better than most cars today. It has a smooth flowing look vs. the chiseled bulging of many current cars.
And the dude in the Pan carries that cone around to keep the next stall clear. I thought BMW was the one with the ****** on the inside!

As much as we may love the pop-up headlights - we have to realize it's a feature of the past. It was done because it was the only way to fit sealed beam headlights on a car that's flat in the front. It was also complex, expensive, heavy, and wasted a lot of space in the front of the car - space that today would be needed for other systems.
On the flip side, we how have LED lighting techniques that can be low profile, use less space, are light, last forever, and can adapt to different driving conditions. That's one technical area where the 928 has fallen behind. I doubt anybody will integrate this technology into a 928.
