After a hard drive, that exotic smell coming from my garage as I close the door for the day. The way the seats fit like a fine leather shoe. The way everything fits as if designed for me. The muted tick of the turn signal...

I don't know, but seems perfect to me.

you forgot to mention that amazing colour, not completely blue but with a lot of grey and a little green in it too.
My '88 S4 is Venice Blue and I think it's a timeless colour...

That feeling of being on a magic carpet - no sensation of anything whizzing around at all, just a gliding sensation.
Priceless.

That smell of "old" (I can't describe it any other way) that I can't get rid of no matter how much Ozium I spray or how many Yankee Candle Leather Air Fresheners I stick in the car.

That smell of "old"
That's the smell of the famous German rubber/foam that has disintegrated.

It's a mix of that and a lot of other things too. I get the same smell when I climb in a vintage aircraft that's been sitting in a hanger too long. It's not necessarily a bad smell, just not what I want in a grand touring car

Yeah but you could get rid of the smell with a new full Champagne interior.

Actually it is a very 928 specific smell. Other old german cars have similar but not that exact smell.

My wife does not care for the smell. Said it smells "old". But she did say in our 20years since we met this is the first car I have owned that she is not embarrassed to be seen in and WANTS to drive it. And I have had a different car each year for those 20...
What can I say? Slow to come around I guess.
