Welcome back!
The engine looks unbelievable! I can't wait to see it installed. What did you do to the exhaust manifolds?
Your reupholster job looks great also. Why did you want to change? You had burgundy interior correct? What did you do to the seats?

In a few posts it will be installed, and I have a little youtube video on it starting..
The exhaust manifolds are the OE ones, I just worked them over thorougly with a steel brush and a cleaning agent.
My interior was really worn down, and I just couldn't live with it for an entire summer of driving. I needed to cover up the cracks in the dash and even though the burgundy color was nice, I opted to go for black... and alcantara. It just appealed more to me.
The seats I swapped around for a set of full leather S4 ones... The whole was good for a summer, but in the meantime.......I have changed my mind again

The next phase was putting it back in place.... with the help of a friend I pushed the beast back in to place..
Those that have done this, know of the joy pushing the wiring harness through the bulkhead, the angle you need to achieve and how much room there is left on all sides..
Again, taking the proper time and remaining calm is the main message.

After this, the blood starts pumping,
So hooking up everything did not take that long... Torque tube, starter motor, alternator, computers, cooling system....
I upgraded the mechanical fan to a set of electrical ones, much more efficient and we gain a few horses that can go toward the wheels. I do have to change conduits of the A/C system as well, but this I'm postponing to a later date.

After this........it came to turning the ignition key.....
I will admit... I was super nervous.... you just never know ....what you don't know
But it took just 5s...and it was alive
I am having trouble embedding the video in this post, but here's the link. If anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong..... suggestions are welcome

In the summer of 2012, I drove the car loads of time, and washed it every weekend... you know how petrolheads get
But I also got stuck more and more on the small issues that my car still suffered from. Namely the paint.
As mentioned by MrMerlin, (what an eye for detail!!!), the front bumper was distorted a little bit.. leaving uneven gaps.. but there was more.. small rust spots started appearing, the rear bumper had a paint issue.... etc etc.
Bodywork, is something I loathe... but happily I have a good friend who loves doing it.. and he does it well, proven by the many projects he completed already.
So i struck a deal... delivering it entirely stripped, he would do the bodywork, prepping and have it painted.
I knew I would have to be patient... but it was tested to the limits...
Exactly one year ago I started stripping the car...
And in the course of a year..... all the pictures I was able to make are these

The big moment came just a few weeks ago....
The car returned, body only, all the other panels are not back yet.
I went back and forth on the color to choose.... the original ruby red looked good, but I still wanted something moooore.....umpf
Denis gave me the solution, a color he had visioned for his 928, but never realised...
Originally a 944 color, very close to the original, I chose zyclamrot...
And I am super happy with the result.
And this is where I am today...
A few other VW projects kept me busy during the year..but I missed the Porsche and now I cannot wait to make it whole again...
I've got all winter, but there is a deadline...
The first Porsche meeting of the year 2014 is in Holland...and I would love to go..

Better than a Tom Clancy novel, can't wait to what the next edition will bring. Here I thought doing a TB/WP change was a big deal...minor compared to what the Belgium motor master has accomplished.

Stefan,
You're car looks amazing! Very nice work, makes me want to get an OB again
Excellent choice on the paint color! While you have the body and interior apart, I highly recommend updating the sound proofing, as with age it starts to smell and crumble.
More pictures please
Cheers!
