Default I may have an 84 Euro motor for sale soon.

I am going to attempt to bring the car back using the stock motor. It was compression tested, and appears to be a good motor. Everything else on the car is in good shape under the hood... hoses, fitting,s etc. Everything looks well cared for.

Anyway, In the event that I end up needing some supporting parts that are going to cost an arm and a leg, I will pull it out and go over to the dark side. If that happens, there will be a good 4.7 Euro motor for sale.

My guess soon after the motor goes up for sale, so will the car.

Not likely. in fact not at all. If the motor comes out, a fully built 350 will be going in its place.

I'll believe it when I see it. Sorry for the skepticism, just seen this happen a few times before.

Don't let the cart get in front of the horse. The primary appeal of an 84 - 86 Euro S is the motor. Without it, it is just another 928S. It is the best of the 16V engines, with modern fuel injection, bigger valves, better cams, larger intake, higher CR, etc. than the US 16V "S" cars.

IMHO, your 80 would be a better SBC candidate, unlss you find this Euro motor to be junk.

Disclaimer: I am biased and a purist....

If you want to do a hybrid, you are better off buying one where most of the work is already done. http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/3437447040.html
You can sell the Euro to help fund the purchase.

FYI, the trans is the posted car is worth over $1000 alone
Throw in those wheels and the coilovers and you are already at the purchase price.
Drop in a motor to your liking.

If you're going to drop in a chevvy motor, please sell the Euro as-is and use your US-model chassis.

The only notable thing about a Euro versus one of the US models is the engine - so it shouldn't affect your plans, as both cars will require re-wiring to accomodate the chev engine. The Euro LH engines are rare enough in the USA already that you'll get a fair bit more money for it than the other car anyway.

What supporting parts cost an arm and a leg in a Euro S?

You need a valve job, replace any bent ones, new guides, a gasket set, and MAYBE rings and bearings, but except for really high mileage or abused motors those are often fine. The motor is rarely a big area of expense on a 928.

Chances are many if not most of the hoses etc will need replacing.
