If conversions actually took a junker 928 off the road and off the market it would be fine, but its the opposite you take a $3k junker 928, do a slop conversion and cheap paint and then its for sale for the next 5 years still eroding the 928 market value.

That one is outstanding in its field, but what can it pull?

Getting back to actually justifying the swap..........This would sway me more than just about anything else: The LT5, shared the same displacement as the familiar small-block 350, but that's where the similarities ended. Based on an aluminum block and cylinder heads, the engine featured four valves per cylinder and four overhead camshafts. Compression ratio of 11:1, a redline north of 7500 and an underrated engine that made 415hp+ and has been successfully stroked to produce 610hp/520ft lbs tq by Lingenfelter. The LT5 was so smooth, it was claimed a nickel could be stood on edge on the intake manifold and remain standing while the engine was started. Not to mention the least of which is that Lotus "breathed" heavily on it as well.......if there were ANY candidate worthy of replacing the Porsche "lump", it's this one for me personally.

The biggest problem being that just like the Porsche V8, there is a finite, diminishing cache of parts available.

What is the LT5?

Just trying to keep track of what you swap-experienced guys find works best.

It's the engine that went in the C-4 ZR-1 from 1990-1995. It was a pre-cursor to the Gen III LSx family, but was unfortunately more complicated (obviously due to the Quad-cams and 4 valves/cylinder as the most recognizable or obvious)

Not a feature in a tractor, early ones had enough torque it was a constant issue that they flip over backwards, not good usually on the driver.

Just saw a Bellhousing for a Ford 5.0 Mod motor today. Would be a perfect candidate for the 928 swap. I have been looking for a Bellhousing for the Toyota 3URFE to design an adapter for. I'm not 100% sure that it is the same Bolt pattern for the 1UZFE that I have already designed and machined for a 944. Due to the factory front sump of the 1UZFE, it should fit the 928 X-member perfectly.....

I think you are mixing up the nickle on edge story here. That came from BMW. The V12 for sure does this. Check youtube if you want to see it.
